Is anyone else a tad tired of these confusing TV model names? Seemingly random strings of letters and numbers make telling them apart a bit of a challenge. Why not give them names, as cars have OR give each TV a size number and a model number, eg “Sony 65 inch model 8”?

Answer is very simple, you have money then you need 8k, no money stick with 4K. 👍

I just installed this TV (the 85-inch) and I'm thrilled with it so far. I'm a hobbyist photographer. The main reason I purchased it is to display still images. Reviewers on other channels raved about the QN900B's potential accuracy, so I bought it. Patient settings tweaks have paid off in a truly stunning image. Of course out of the box you can use this TV to tan yourself: it's way to bright, contrasty and saturated. By experimenting I've found the optimum settings for accuracy, including auto-brightness settings for varying light. (My room gets very bright during the day as I live in the Arizona desert and my home has lots of windows.) The final output is a genuinely remarkable image. This is excellent for photographic post processing reference and showing off your best images. The display is able to resolve all of my photos' resolution, most of which are over 60 megapixels. That said, I'll stick with my BenQ SW321C 32" Color Accurate monitor for actual image processing. However, while the SW321C may be color accurate (if you routinely calibrate it), it can't touch the QN900B's brightness! If you're a photographer and can afford it, get this TV while it's still on holiday sale!

Note: If you ever by this TV or anything similar in size. KEEP THE BOX or you’ll end up selling the TV with your house when you move. I’m a professional mover and I deal with these TVs everyday here in Austin. They’re almost impossible to move safely without the box. Also try to keep the styrofoam in tact. I know most people hire handy men to mount the tv on the wall, but make sure to tell the HM to keep the box and all styrofoam.

I bought a 75 Sony Z9K here and I'm quite happy with it. Gets uber bright and the black levels are great. Has some minor blooming in subtitles just like the Samsung but it has the best picture I've ever seen with clean 1080p or 4k content. I got enough money to be able to comfortably buy it so I treated myself, otherwise I'd still be using my old TCL 65 825 mini led set I was very happy with. If you can afford them they really do look better even upscaling 4k content with the brightness and higher pixel density. There are a lot options, pick the one that you like.

Nice video maybe 5 years from now ill buy 8k tv but for now im enjoying my Q90a.

When it came mes to 8K TV reviews, I mainly care about the one thing that damn near all of them (save Robinson) ignore; pixel density & how that 8K picture looks, detail wise (especially on the biggest sizes) compared to other 8 & 4K TVs. But no one other than Robinson ever talks about that.

I just bought the qn900b 75” tv from Samsung direct. I got a steal on the tv. It was a no brainer. If you can go the extra mile I’d get the 8k tv. It basically has you somewhat future proofed and completely covered for the present. I’m coming from an old Panasonic Plasma so I needed something as good if not better. Didn’t want oled because of image retention possibilities. I have seen your reviews for the 900 and 800. They were both great. Because of the more advanced ambient mode now and the ability to still display art through your stored photo albums I opted to not get the frame. We didn’t care about a fancy bezel, we cared about this thing not being an eye sore. There are ways to put art on the tv and have it look very similar to the frame. I thought this tv would be able to do that better than any other tv in the line up,

There is no future proofing. I don’t see 8k coming in next 5 years. What I see instead is neat AI for upscaling that will come along bigger tv sizes. 4k will be streaming and broadcasting standard and AI upscaling will handle the rest. That kind of upscaling already is possible - that looks like native 8k - but needs to trickle down to tv manufacturers - in 5 years is achievable. But you will have to purchase new TV to enjoy it. Also you do need big tv, close distance for 8k to make a difference.

Good review again not to much tech talk which I like . I have just bought the Samsung Q60 85inch for my new garage conversion home theatre room . I love my new QLED tv . I think 8k could go the same way as 3D Tv. If you have a good 4K tv its hard to see the diffrance between 4 an 8K. Also it will take a long time to get 8k content .

Yeah I mean for real…don’t they do the research where it’s in clear bold print that the 65 has inferior specs to the 75 and 85 and that their findings only apply to the 65?

I’m glad you tested the 85” because both the 75 and 85 are superior to the 65 that most reviewers test. Even the specs on the website show the 65 isn’t as good as the larger ones. The larger ones have way more zones and I measured my 75 at 2500 nits whereas the 65 is only around 1500. You can clearly see much less blooming and way better contrast on that 85 over the 65. Uniformity is an issue. I had a clean one that had the local dimming bug so I swapped it out but the next one had dse and so did the following one. Knowing that my first one didn’t have any noticeable dse I decided to keep trying cause I knew that there are clean ones out there. 4th time is the charm and I’m very happy with my current panel. Samsung needs to clean up their act with this dse nonsense.

U change ur tv 4 times I’m on my second I have bought the 85 inch QN900B I loved the first I got very clear image and super bright image but it was defective 4 blown spekers and lot ain’t of wear so they change it but the one I have right now lot features u cnt use n other don’t even come with it I don’t have movie mode or filme maker mode and the image it’s a way darker than the first one they told me I could swap the TV for a new one I hope for the best now

Watched 4k and 8k sample videos on latest lg and samsung tvs. I was all aboard the oled tv until i watched em on 9n00b 8k. This this BLOWS other tvs out of water, regardless of content i watched. Not sure why all tv reviews are not recommending these 8ks. If you can afford one, get them!

In what way exactly are they better than the 4k oleds?

I have a question I got the second version of the neo qled 8k but I notice something some of the features are off there’s no movie or filmmaker mode does that happen with all the second versions or is that my TV comes defective please help and I notice is much less brighter than the first one. I just got mine this week.

I’m wandering does it come with the stand or separate if so where do you get the stand and how much is it?

So would you recommend buying this over an LG OLED that is most likely to be watch for 12 hours every day?

I just upgraded to a Samsung 8k 85". My Samsung Q9 65" is in excellent shape... just splurging for a special occasion. I'm thinking about selling my 65" because I don't currently have space for both tvs, but... guessing I wouldn't get much for a used TV (I don't like buying used electronics unless it's from family or friends) My question is, if I stored my old tv until I get a larger home, do these tvs do ok after being stored? If I get a master bedroom that would accommodate a 65" in the next 3 years maybe I'm better off keeping it?

I have a older Sony 42“ led set we were given in 2012 when we bought our house for Christmas. We used it happily a few years till I upgraded to a cheap 4k set. We stashed it in the spare room for years and my fancy set broke 3 years later so drug it out and it played like it Always had and now it is in a bedroom still looking good today.

I just ordered the QN900C 85" (2023). Price was ~55% off during Black Friday so I simply had to (still a lot of money though). This video concerns the 2022 (B) version and I wonder how much of an improvement the 2023 (C) version will be? It is replacing an aging Q9FN 75" (2018) that is working fine right now but has started to show issues with the backlighting after 5 years of good use. I am absolutely thrilled to receive the new 85" and get it wall mounted in December :)

Be aware that even tho the 800C has more mini LEDs and dimming zones than 800B, the brightness level has been capped to conserve electricity required by the EU. Apparently, they nerfed the tvs for the US as well. 🙄

Samsung after so many years didn't fix the dimming isue on qled regarding HDR content, is pushing a lot of ads, keeps installing apps on your tv without your consent and not giving you (the user) the possibility to delete them or stop installing them on your tv! This are some of the few reasons i quit using/buying Samsung qled tv!

I like the 8K Samsung this is the one I love to have with the stand let me know if I can get it from New York

The 65 is gimped. Everybody knows this. It’s not a real qn900b. Only the 75 and 85 are. I’m glad I returned my g2 for the qn900b. The g2 was way too dim and suffered heavy white subpixel dilution. Even my c9 is better.

There are a few things from my experience, 8k at 85" is the same pixels per inch as a 43" 4k TV (great if you like to use the TV as a PC monitor), certain content upscaled to 8k looks better than 4k. Gaming on my 8k on a larger screen and sitting closer to it makes me feel more immersed as I don't see any screen door effect due to the denser pixels and to me the image looks sharper, 8k image processing hardware tends to be beefier and faster due to having to drive 4 times as many pixels, but this is very model specific and might not be always the case. IMO 8k makes the most sense when you go for bigger sizes (over 75") and that high pixel density allows you to sit at the same or closer distance without noticing the overall picture quality decline. This is why when manufactures don't gimp their smaller TV sizes you will notice that for 4k TV's the 55" always outperforms the bigger sizes as it has the sharpest image. Same thing on the Q900B and newer models, the 65" would be the best overall PQ, but Samsung purposely made the bigger sizes have more dimming zones so they can justify the price differences more.

Nice review. But I dunno if it's the lighting vs camera but the animated movie did not look as great as an OLED tv. As far as buying an 8k tv...not worth it not enough media right now. Future proofing? Maybe, but a lot of people don't even have a 4k tv yet even with the various sizes and price crashes that are available

Hi!. I guess that's a desperate try but I got this tv and when I watch hdr contents sometimes black tones change by their own brighter and darker like flickering. Very subtle thing but this is driving me crazy, samsung doesn't recognize the problem and I really cannot find someone who can tell me if this is a "normal" thing or not! I'm losing my mind over it, no tv expert can help me even telling me why this is happening and if there's a solution. I turned off every automatic function, i normally use "filmaker" mode to watch movies (every other option is completely impossible to use since this problem is even on the black bands up and down the screen). Can you or someone else plese help me? Is this something that this tv does watching high resolution hdr contents? I paid like 7k for this tv and I can's watch any hdr content on it! Thanks!

This TV is just a QN800C that has the model number changed for Costco due to bulk sales agreement, there are zero differences between the Costco QN850C and the QN800C. And the price is only $200 bucks cheaper which means that Costco is just selling it at a lower margin. If I was you, I would get last years QN900B as it has a VA panel verses the ADL and is overall a better TV than the 2023 QN800C, it also sells for $800-1000 less.

@@ciscokid2444 The same size 800B will have the same amount of zones as the equivalent sized 900B. As for if you should get the 900C over the 900B, personally there is not enough improvement to justify the cost. Since the 900B can be had for $4500-4900 USD vs the 900C which still is at the $8000 price mark. If you can wait till November I expect the 900C will drop to $5500. And to help avoid confusion the model numbers are 800 mid range 8k, and 900 for the high end 8k, the letter after indicates the year. E.g. 900A = highest end 8k from 2021, 900B = 2022, 900C = 2023. The same for 800 series.

If you still love it why change? The curve does not add anything to the viewing experience IMO and the PQ and image processing is much better today. Also, the local dimming on KS9800 only had 150 zones to work with verses 2340 on a QN800B and for me local dimming performance is really important on non-OLED panels.

I have qn90b and use Apple TV to stream content. You can set your tv to turn on and go to the last app used and bypass the stupid Samsung software. It’s great

Adjust your settings. Also the latest update makes Tizen much faster. I avoid it at all costs though and use an Apple TV.

No one broadcast in 8k at this point in time. 4k is rare also

Oh yes I’ll try to play Forza 5 on an Xbox series X on this tv

lets see, 4k uhd is the current new physical media. Not to mention everything else is still 1080p "bluray". I would give it another 10-15+ years before 8k is even a thing. 8k will probably be worth it in 15+ years, by then there will probably be better tvs to buy

I'm in the same boat as you (4K vs 8K). I've decided to go with the 8K b/c it has numerous other features that come with such a premium TV that just happens to be 8K. So don't look at it as a 4K vs 8k decision, look at it as a feature comparison between two TV's. That, and of course size matters.

Beautiful thin tv. But the "ghosting" 👻 dirty screen effect is very visible here for the naked eye.

Future proof. I just got this TV to replace a 14 year old TV. That TV was obsolete within a few years. This TV will future proof hoping I can get another 14+ years out of it.

early adopter fee, someone has to start buying this stuff. Ill buy a 8k tv once streaming sites start doing 8k, which will probably be no time soon lol.

I was an early adopter for decades. And the issue is (and always was) that by the time 8k becomes mainstream, they’ll have come up with updated input plugs, like, say, some HDMI 5.0, that older 8K TVs don’t have. And we’ll have to buy the new TVs anyway …

8k is pointless as movies are not made in 8k, I’m sure their not even made in 4k,, nice size though and with it being a Samsung is dodgy as most Samsung tv the wireless module always fails but hopefully Samsung has sorted this issue as it’s happened to 3 Samsungs I’ve had in the past

The size vs price ratio makes its deficiencies acceptable.

Who games on a tv this big I definitely could not too big

I game on this 8K 85inch QN900B...I pair it with PC RTX 4090 and play my entire 76 game library in 8K 60fps. It's Absolutely Stunning and looks much better then 4K gaming. 8K is the future

@@freeagentlifestyles another thing to add, downscaling 8k to 4k still leaves the image super sharp so no need to worry about dealing with lower fps if you don't want to.

what a waste. i mean aren't tv getting outdated. I dont even watch my laser tv anymore and im thinking about selling it. I get all my content on my computer to Disney+ to hulu to Netflix and apple tv. Plus my 4k 28inch monitor is way better looking then most outdated tvs. just my observations. TV are a dying bread just like vhs cd dvds and tvs ;lol

I see your point, but i definitely still like using very large screen, to much more immersion and fun.

Running an 8k right now is pointless, there’s nothing out that produces 8k. There’s barely anything out at the moment that supports 4k. I have a 65 inch QLED Q80A and it’s 4k and I stream everything and watch tons of sports and I’ve seen 8k 75 or 65 inch and there’s no difference. Save your money and grab a 4k, we’re years and years out from even touching 8k. You’ll be paying extra for something you can’t use.
