In 1994, the world-famous music band “Enigma” from Germany released the single “Age of Loneliness” as one of the four singles in its second album “The Cross of Changes”. This single was peculiar in a way of containing the unusual female voice singing an extraordinary song in a strange non-western language. Listeners had no idea who the singer of this hitherto unheard song was. It turned out that the Mongolian traditional long song “Tosongiin oroigoor” (“On the heights of Toson”) was performed in this single by singer Nadmid Dechinzundui. Enigma - Age of Loneliness In the same year, the founder of Enigma, Michael Cretu released another single “The Eyes of Truth”. Likewise, in “Age of Loneliness”, this song also featured samples of Mongolian long songs, notably the “Alsyn Gazryn Zereglee” (“Mirage of a Distant Terrain”). Enigma’s album “The Cross of Changes”, thanks to these two singles and the use of exotic Mongolian long songs, was sold over 8 million copies worldwide.

This is the kinda abstract stuff that people now adays try to imitate but could never replicate. Its so organic.

Man, this song was used so much for so many things back then. It's a really memorable part of the time period. Weird to not hear stuff like this for 30 years and then it all comes back to you. Never forget the 90s I never let people say they weren't good.

This music is so pure, Devine, charismatic and sacred.

First time I heard this i was a young girl, sitting on the beach watching the men bring in their catch, sun on my skin, enjoying the sea breeze.. Now in my forties when I hear this song it takes me back to my youth and my homeland I miss so very much. 🙏🏾 🔒 🖤

Snuck into the movie this was made for at 16 in about 92/93 (was 18+ only here) and while the movie sucked (Sliver of course) I was stoked my fave group had done two songs for that movie, where the lead (Sharon Stone) had my name. My name wasn't popular then, first time I'd heard it used - so of course loved this, it's otherwise known as you know as Carly's song ;-) But yep, Michael & wife were incredible, they really took a chance with their music in 1990 - I still see them as the original trance.

Enigma was and still is amazing, grabbing cultures from India, Mongolia etc to make beautiful music. 👌

This artist brings me such warmth, emotion and a true belief in music and the art of enigmatic vocals. Such beautiful music gives one goosebumps, but also takes me to another world of serenity and safety!!

Found it in 1994 and been carrying it with me ever since.

I was a young man when I first listened to enigma back in the 90s . I had nothing to my name struggling to get by but this music always gave me peace . I was a lot happier back then I miss the 90s .

Great harmony, our traditional song and electric music.

First time listening to this. It seems like a mix of folk songs and music from different nations. The key them folk song is a Mongolian song - Peak of Mount Toson. The song is a national song, which means no one knows the original writer and the time it was written. Just found out that Enigma used this song without copyright and afterwards it had concerts together with this Mongolian singer.
