Enhance Your Potential by Focusing on the Process Not The Results | OA Podcast S4E01 Gerry Hussey

“Food can be your greatest medicine or your slowest poison.”
For the opening episode of Season 4 of the Oxygen Advantage® podcast, Patrick welcomes writer, speaker, entrepreneur and ‘The Soul Coach’ himself, Gerry Hussey.
Originally from Galway in Ireland and based in Dublin, Gerry has built a strong reputation for himself over the past few decades from his origins in sport psychology to his current work, spreading the word on how we can improve our individual health when we start looking inwards.
Author of books including ‘Awaken the Power Within’ and his new book, ‘The Freedom Within’, Gerry looks at ‘the brain, the gut and the heart’ when considering the issues that may be negatively affecting our mental and physical health.
With the brain we can overthink things, we can have a negative outlook or we can be shaped by the experiences, traumas or unresolved emotions of our past. With the gut, quite simply, we need to eat a healthy and balanced diet and really focus on what we put in our bodies as it can negatively affect our heads and our hearts.
As Gerry says, “What shows up in your emotions, shows up in your immune system, in your hormonal system and in your nervous system… The right person, with the right process, never has to worry about the outcome.”

Thank you so so much for this awesome podcast Patrick! I'd not heard of Gerry before but wow! So much of what he speaks of totally resonates with me. I follow people such as yourself, Dr Gabor Mate, Dr Vandana Shiva, Dr Pam Popper, Dr Bruce Lipton, Dr David Hamilton, Dr Laura Koniver to mention a few... This list is not exhaustive! We have a biodiversity ecosystem within that resonates with the biosystem of diversity outside of ourselves, including people and all of nature.... There is a balance and connection, physical, emotionally and spiritually. Having a rich diverse of people to learn from is also important in my humble opinion. Being curious is key to insight I believe.... Dr Jud Brewer speaks to this. Thank you again 🙏🏻💚💙

After the 5 strong breath holds during warm up wouldn't your blood be much more acidic so when you work out or compete wouldn't lactic acid build up much quicker?

Hi @Nova-vb5ue, It takes 1 minute of normal breathing for blood PH to return to normal. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment.

If I get on my exercise bike and doe 60 second burst, the fluid retention around my face disappears and the rubbery, waxy feel to my skin is gone

I remember being in the shower putting warm and cold water on my leg to relieve the pain and both helped in different ways. I was nose breathing too.

Therapy is a complete joke. Cold water and buteyko are waaaaay more effective. Exercise and keto are also very good.
