Same frame design as the Engine Pro, a 750 watt bike, and more and more im seeing these frames failing where the rear shock weld is, very concerning, seems that Engwe's QC isnt very good, thanks for the review, appreciate your efforts!

Kinda cool bike a bit goofy looking, however it is one of the few bikes that comes road legal for tlmy country and that with the flick of some levers and buttons can unlock into something better. The fact the battery is in the frame and not dangling on top is neat, that it comes with a not obvious locked throttle..and registered as a 250w motor is cool. Unlocked it basically is the regular 750w peak power motor! However I wonder if the engine pro can't be locked or for example be downgraded and ending up the better choice with it's hydraulic brakes and metal pedals? But Dutch laws restrict anything above 250w and with a throttle working..so toe this one of the very few pearls that out of the box can be good to both! The Bruce Banner of compact fatbike.

I've got an engine x in white and the brakes are not bad. A cheaper option would be a bigger disc on the front with a spacer and it'll be much better. Going for hydraulic is all well and good but you have to wire in the cut off switch for the motor too on both brake levers. Got a explorer trunk bag too designed to carry batteries. I carry a comprehensive bike tool kit, pump, spare inner tube, puncture repair kit, a head torch. I thought about fitting an extended handlebar rather than the bmx style one as I need the bike folded up from time to time. A 700mm one would be good as it would be easier to manoeuvre the bike at slow speed and I would have more room to attach a phone cradle and mirrors and maybe a go pro 360. I ride around in mode 3, It's more than enough assistance on fairly flat ground where I am in middle England.

The converter does not have 52 teeth as you state, but only 48 teeth. I have a new Engwe X at home, and I counted the teeth on the converter.

I agree with you, any bike over £$€1000 must have hydraulic brakes. Had to change my fatbike front brake to hydraulic and there is a big difference in stopping distance ans the feel of levers.

  • @Techtablets

Yes you get better braking pressure on the pads and the level is firmer feels overall better. Cable pull you also have to keep adjusting it over time as the cables stretch a little.

Just swap out the stem and handlebars and the bike no longer looks fugly. I've put cruiser bars with a 110mm adjustable stem on a riser adaptor on my EP-2 Pro and it looks really nice. I had BMX bars on it before that, but got bored of them because so many other people put BMX bars on these bikes. The cruiser bars also give the bike a sleeker, more low profile silhouette compared to BMX bars.

very good, i think those fat tires are not useful because of the drag they produce, besides if the bike has suspensión why do you need those tires. i dont need hydraulic brakes. hydraulic brakes are closer and as i was braking the disc dilated and gripped the bike, that happened to me with a very exensive hydraulic brakes, formula oro.

You aren't getting the range bc you got flat tires. Max them out to 20psi and you will get much better range and the brakes work better.
