Do different woods give you different results as far as the dark burn. I Did an acacia board and wasnt satisfied with how light it came out. Maybe if i convert the vectors to image and then try it as grayscale may work. Thanks for sharing this information about using xcs instead of LB for this type of project.

Yes, different species and even the different grain pattern can cause variations. It is best to test but I find that real wood is very forgiving. XCS does a really good job on photos and multi color images.

I've been working on cutting boards, how do you normally line up the cutting board for pictures that are sensitive to offset? I'm struggling with the rounded cutting boards. Thank you!

Depending on the machine, the P2 I use the camera. Other machines, I create an outline of them as a tool line and frame, center graphic with frame and send it

Hello do you use light burn and the sculphin machine you use a lot of x tool

  • @TheClackShack

I run lightburn on most of my machine. The new xTool machines loose some functionality in lightburn so I run them in xcs. I do run the sculpfun occasionally but the one I currently have is too big for my enclosures.

@@TheClackShack will the sculphin machine really not too big of deal but what I can say is that there's no way people can follow along with what you're doing if your only using the software that comes for xtool but no big deal love the videos

What cnc setup would you recommend to get started? I was looking at the 4030 v2 ? Almost ordered it then remembered you may have a discount code as well as you might make some money on it if I use your link. Wanted to be no more than 1000 into it.

I have heard good things about the 4030, I have had the 4040, 3030 and now the 6050. I think the 4030 would be a good machine to get started with, they offer upgrades for it as well. Thanks.. Here is a link for the 4030. shrsl.com/4dy6j

Buy your 2nd or 3rd cnc first. You won't ever regret having more rigidity or power than you think you need. Cheap Chinese CNCs have horrible resale value so upgrading is going to cost you. Getting more machine than you think you need and if you decide you don't like it you can at least get your money back.

I don't typically, I will run a higher LPI at times. There are some woods that if I can't get the desired effect, I may lift focus and try. I run air assist and get nice dark burns generally.
