Hi Anne, first I want to say thanks for the great content! I love your videos, specifically casual speech. My name's Markus 39, I'm from Germany and I want to become fluent in English. That's why I follow your channel. ( sry for some mistakes) BUT... I also learn Russian. It's a beautiful language and I want to understand other people and speak with them as well. I learned for 3 years in school ( I'm from the east of Germany and after the WW2 Germany was split up y probably know. Long story short... Russian was our third language to learn and I decided... Yes why not. But that what we learned was... Hmm well, just very basic. So it is possible that y give me some good advice to learn casual speech for Russian or better a video 😅 I know you're very busy, the channel, Family, private live and so on. As a native English speaker, my advice would be to never be afraid to "dumb down" your conversational vocab because we do it all the time ourselves. If you can't think of the exact word you're looking for but know how to define that word in English, either use a similar word if you know one off hand, or simply define it. You can also use phrases like "what's-it-called" in place of the word you're thinking of as a stalling tactic. Example: Let's say you are talking to someone about how you saw a giant rainbow the other day but forgot the word rainbow. Define the word you're looking for in the simplest/dumbest way possible: "I saw a...'what's it called' - that curved thing in the sky that has all the colors in it, red, orange, yellow, you know that thing." The dumber the better, especially when speaking with us Americans. We have perfected the art of "dumbing down" the English language lol
