I was drawn to that too. Even the two opposing profiles are at slightly different angles. Sometimes I wonder how accurate those contemporary paintings were regarding likeness, but somehow having three representations from varying angles, gives a better depiction of the subject's real appearance. I'm surprised more paintings weren't done that way.

That's why it is so easy to research. If my memory serves me correctly King William the Conqueror was the 1st Normandy king of England and he is who began building Windsor Castle

Interestingly from what I understand Charles 1st father James 1st (King James Bible, yeah that's the guy) was raised in the Church of Scotland when it still retained Bishops instead of Presbyterian organization, but was staunchly Calvinist to the point of frowning on Candles on the Altar and Incense, then his son marries a Roman Catholic girl lol 🤔😂

18:45 It's good that someone makes such educational films. I did the ethnic test dna my Heratige. To my surprise, it turned out that I had English genes. The whole family came to what is now Poland in 1800.Grandparents from van de Rijke ,Second -Svensson - Nassau,Femme van Egmont/von Stolberg . Some Livingston from the first baronet of Hamilton. Some Middleton Peter from 1290.It's good that there are German translations.I'm not surprised that they fled from England or Scotland. But it's a long time ago, I was born in Poland .From the mitress of the Tsars Romanov. It must be admitted that I went to the Officers of the Red Ark in Aleksandrov's choir. And Prigozin didn't say anything... he was like Gargamel in a poorly tailored suit.

King Charles II was a jolly womanizing king with many illegitimate children but not one legitimate one. His reign is often associated with the return of theaters and brothels to England but also the plague and the Great Fire of London in 1666. Aside from that he was quite popular completely the opposite of his younger brother who took the throne after he passed away. He, James II, was in my opinion the most tyrannical of the Stuart kings.

What?! That is crazy. I do have an interest in the Russian Revolution and the Soviet Union. From there I can pick up on similar events. One big one is the French Revolution. Now I am seeing that the English Civil War is another one. The Russian czar Nicholas II and his whole family got canonized as saints. I think this is the worst canonization I have seen. This is the same family that the Russian people put on house arrest and killed with the firing squad. Nicolas II was such a bad tyrant. The people got tired of the oppression that the fought back. They replaced the monarchy with communism. This new system had more benefit to the people,, or at least it was supposed to.. Since Nicolas II was such a bad ruler, he doesn't deserve to be a Saint. Saints are supposed to be good and holy guys. I didn't know Charles I got canonized too. That is horrible. Oh man. If King Louis and Queen Marie Antoinette get canonized too, I am going to freaking scream. They even got thier heads chopped just like Charles I. History repeats itself.

The Frenchman says "You English really have no idea what a revolution really is." The Englishman replies, "Oh, no. We most certainly do. A revolution is a circular path which leads one back to where one began."

The most interesting thing about King Charles the First is that he was five foot six inches tall at the start of his reign, but only four foot eight inches tall at the end of it.

Charles I despite being a bit of a despot, is such a sympathetic character to me. He reminds me of jesus in most of his portraits. I honestly think despite even if removing him from the throne he shouldn't have been executed. I find that wrong and disgusting on so many levels. The same for King Louis 16th 150 years later. Capital punishment for a monarch was absolutely taboo back then. That's why Napoleon was never executed.
