English Almshouses - Open Day in Wells
Wells Almshouses Open Day was held yesterday. Although the weather conspired against the event, the residents, artists, volunteers and trustees welcomed those who attended warmly and enthusiastically. Seen in the video - Somerset Flutes.

There have been almshouses in the United Kingdom for more than 1000 years, with the oldest almshouse charity foundation still in existence being the Hospital of St Oswald in Worcester founded in 990.
Many are old, often beautiful historic buildings, others are more modern and some are newly built. What they all have in common is their provision of affordable housing and support for the needy or vulnerable, often older people and are usually managed by local trustees.

Wells is a beautiful place, thank you for sharing 😎
Oh, Paul! It's like a little bit of heaven right here on earth. Lucky Michael! The English - you love your native flora and you remain, even as modern as Great Britain is, you remain close to the land and I so admire that in you and your people. Thank you for this video, it's so peaceful and beautiful. And a pat on the back - you choose the best music to accompany your videos.
