Only watched 13mins & must say Greekio McChimney Sweep clearly has no idea about Adam Wharton who is absolute class! He should watch him for Palace against Liverpool, Newcastle & Man Utd.

Saying Eze’s not done enough to be in is an outrageous take, he’s been unreal this season. This is the best strength in depth that England have had in years and it makes sense to name a larger provisional squad given the fitness concerns for Kane, Shaw, Maguire etc especially for the warm up friendlies. Also it’s good to have wildcard picks in the squad who can change a game like Eze (it’s not like he’s picked a 16 year old Theo Walcott). Wharton has also been very good this year and we don’t have many players of his kind of profile so why not give him a chance to impress or at least train with the squad. Worked well with Stones for the 2014 World Cup pre-tournament.

The bloke just constantly chats waffle. I doubt he's actually ever even watched Wharton play a single minute. The bloke has been absolutely class in the centre of midfield and provides something outside of Rice England really dont have. Maddison also had a few off months since the injury but the last few weeks of the season has been returning to that form and fitness. You really need some more open minded opinions. To say Rashford should be in and not others because of what he offers is ridiculous. He's been one of the most out of form players in the league. Sterling too, been woeful and hardly played for months. Why fail again with the same players who this time have performed even worse this season.

Harry is bringing his Arsenal salt 🧂 across to the selection of an English team he doesn't care about. Jake's comments are far more relevant, especially at LB. Shaw is a great fullback, but I worry about him getting through a full tournament when he hasn't played for months, and there is no flexibility, eg. no wing backs. There are some there, eg. Wharton, Quansah, who are just there for the experience and won't be in the final squad.

I sense Harry is still annoyed about the prem. This is genuinely the best England side we have had in years. Probably as many as 7 of our players would get into any other country's starting 11. His Wharton take also crazy. Quality young player makes provisional squad is hardly a headline. Sven picked Walcott and none of us had even heard of him 😂

Jakey's first 11 is the approach we should be going for in most games. Manioo or Gallacher could come on for defensive purposes. I'd have Branthwaite above Maguire against pacey teams.

I’m a United fan and I absolutely love Rashford. But I don’t think he deserves to go. Forget the rest of the guys that got in for a moment, rashford as an individual has been poor and his desire and energy just doesn’t seem to be there. I get he’s got a bit of an X Factor about him with his pace and directness, but if he’s not there mentally then I can’t see him utilising it to his full potential. I’d back Gordon over him right now which pains me to say but at least Gordon will give you 100% every minute he’s out on that pitch. Marcus will probably get frustrated if he doesn’t get a lot of minutes too which could have an impact on squad harmony seeing as he’s well liked throughout the squad

Starting off strong with total madness. A lot of young exciting playets in that squad

If we had a brave Manager: - RAMSDALE - TRENT, STONES, BRANTHWAITE, WHARTON (as an Inverted LB) - RICE - SAKA, FODEN, BELLINGHAM, RASHFORD - KANE This line up MAXMIMISES all of our attacking 5's best qualities. It eases the burden on Rice for build up by pairing him with Wharton (who reminds me of a young Xhaka) AND it still allows you to field the single best passer in the country in Trent. Palmer coming on for either Saka or Foden should be the first sub EVERY game. Unfortunately, Southgate is going to play a pair of full backs with an average age of about 40, ask Rice to be solely in charge of progressing play, have two Ballon d'Or level players not play in their best position (be it Bellingham deeper or having Foden as a touchline left winger like VS France) and have the calamity that is Maguire play LCB when he has a clear angle bias which ALWAYS puts him in trouble.

Pickford Walker Stones Branthwaite Gomez Rice Trent Saka Jude Foden Kane

I think you'd get further by pairing Gallagher with Rice than Trent or Mainoo. You do just need a workhorse runner in the midfield, with Gallagher you could put Bellingham in the 10 because what is the point of playing him at 8 after the season he has had, do you want to win anything? Then you can shoehorn Foden on the left, or have a conversation about putting him on the right and Gordon on the left

Go 3-2-4-1, Walker, Stones, Branthwaite/Gomez in the back 3. Get Trent in as a deep lying playmaker alongside Rice in the double pivot. Attacking midfield line with Saka, Bellingham, Foden & Gordon. Plenty of graft tracking back there, and too much craft and pace for any opposition to cope with.

I am watching a lot of Bayern and I am so shocked that Dier is not in the squad. He was the best Bayern defender in 2024 and played very well vs. Arsenal and Real Madrid.

Harry’s become a massive bore over the course of this season; the closer Arsenal have got to the title, the more miserable he’s become. He’s started ruining entire episodes of 90 Min and - rather than merely arguing the opposing view - his opinions are getting more and more niche.

Talking about players earning it their form this season has been awful whereas Wharton has been class since his January move. We could play some people out of position there (mainoo bellingham etc) but might as well give him a try in some friendlies.

@@tommypark2522 Even Southgate couldn't justify calling on Henderson and Chilwell has barely kicked a ball since early March. Rashford is a talking point for sure. But otherwise the general public with Rashford being the outlier could have easily predicted who Southgate would call up to have a look at.

Harry was put in his place by Jake. When asked to justify his criticism of the England squad it became obvious that he would be negative no matter what. Harry has an opinion and will do anything to support that. Signs of a low intelligence and fragile ego. Also silly comment “when will Southgate get to see the players”. Walker and Branthwaite tuck in to make a 3 at the back, both are excellent at defending 1v1 in wide areas. In possession formation is a 3 box 3

Mainoo is already an overhyped kid.
