No wonder england's fans went mental ruining the stadium after the final when they lost even despite the majority of fans at the game were cheating aswell as half their players hahaha. Even when covid restrictions were being lifted the English gorvenment was like "Awww we probably cant let danish fans in to watch the game, guess we have to just pack the stadium with our own fans maybe hand out laserpointers you know for laser shows at half time giggity" XD

Mark goldbridge said this maybe. I don't know how many england fans have actually believed at any point that England would have much to offer in the way of a tournament win this time. My feeling since euro 2020 has been with southgate it won't be done, because of the way they play under him. Selection is always terrible, Southgate gets it wrong every time. From early on refusing to play younger talents in their breakout seasons, to then not making subs when impact needs to be made, to picking players in a formation that they aren't suited to play. We won't be able to play all of our best players at the same time but that's because we have too many good attacking players and less decent defenders / midfielders. A good manager would be able to come up with the best setup as opposed to trying to fit all of the talent in, in this tournament after being ridiculously conservative in selection in previous tournaments. Southgate listens to the outrage at his bad decision-making when we're already out of a tournament, makes the changes and comes up new problems which he doesn't fix until it's too late again.

What's weird is that we have some of the most dynamic and inventive players in the world, currently, and somehow Southgate has managed to make them incredibly insipid and dull. These were the two dullest games but England have played boringly and conservatively for years now. I've spent an uncomfortable amount of time shouting at the television trying to urge England to play the ball forwards instead of endlessly, repeatedly, tediously backwards. You can hold onto the ball playing it between your defenders until the day is long but unless you try and attack and create spaces and make runs then why are you even bothering?

kinda why i am sad that our coach which is actually also pretty incompetent (not Gareth Southgate levels but yeah) didn't give Matt O'Riley a chance because he has the energy we are lacking in the midfield and i would gladly exchange him for Delaney or Mathias Jensen, as i have no doubt he would be fire and it would be a good showcase for premier league clubs so that he finally could take his career to the next level and become a main and integral part of our national squad like he no doubt will be in the future.

There is something wonderfully funny about Englishmen trying to pronounce danish surnames 🤣

Yes because clearly this england squad is as talentless as england teams in the 70s, 80s, 2010s... I'm not including 90s or 2000s because anyone who has any sense of objectivity would not call England's players in those decades "mediocre at best". It doesn't boil down to one thing like people such as yourself tend to imply. It isn't all explained by england overhyping players or being "arrogant" (and I've never understood how arrogance is supposed to stop you from winning a tournament. It doesn't stop France or Germany). You're in this comments section purely to wind people up. England fans aren't going to agree with you and you're never going to agree that England has talented players.

It’s so wild with that team, and with so much ammo in the final third, you go down and park the bus when you’re 1-0 in the lead. It’s not like England is weak in the defense, but relative to your squad, it’s like when you score, you go all in on your weakness, and is opportunistic about your strengths. Why is Foden on the left? Why is Bellingham at 10? Why is Trent at 8? Trent is a fish out of water in the Midfield. Denmark completely dominated the midfield. There were like 3 Danes around Saka many times. They shot him down good.

I think you might be a bit slow. What hemeant by that, was that England didnt want it enough. After the 1-1 England didnt take any risks or try to be creative, just played boring, uninspiring and without much effort.

At least we learned that Southgate will never need to take a suppository!

Every squad and every manager gets overwhelmed with such attitudes, believing that the FA formula to progress through tournaments is specific and beyond them, despite it never, ever working. It's not even the result, Denmark are a decent team who can upset anyone on their day but the problem is how we play, instead of taking the momentum forward and finishing games we park the bus and invite pressure as soon as we take a lead
