What's even more impressive is the quality of most of the goals. They were well worked and well executed.

Well, Latvia are beyond abysmal so you can't really make a proper judgment. It was like they just grabbed 11 Latvian women off the street, gave them a shirt and said "off you go". Their "defending" was at about the same standard as my boys under 8s team.

But still. I know the defenders have to do a lot of work to ensure clean sheet or minimal damage but at some point the keeper has to do some saves. The defender is not gonna dive around the post. The keeper was just literally standing there. Block some simple tap ins atleast. Call out your mates, ask them to mark the players. All the keeper here is doing is to stand and thinking about whether she will eat a pizza or a burger.

The WHOLE team was at fault but the GK was atrocious, how many errors did she make? and every single goal that went in she pulled her arms away, how many miss kicks did she do? actually watch the game the GK was the biggest problem on the field

@@cjr2131 That's not how that works. If the opponents have a single shot at the goal that already means that the defense failed. Whole team would get a lecture from the coach. By comparison, England had 52 total shots so that means defense failed 52 times where as the goal keeper only let in 20 of the 31 shots on target. Just look at the numbers. Goal keeper could have performed better but with the team not participating there's no chance. Watching the game, it seemed like Latvia's defense gave up after the 6th goal and didn't even bother to block easy shots.

Fun fact: England scored more tonight in that stadium than Doncaster have all season

Actually, most of the Latvian team are part time players and that last goalkeeper looked very young and had a unenviable task of keeping those shots out from an excellent england team who are all at a very high level. It's a lot of pressure coming on as a goal keeper when you're already 9 or so goals down.

you can’t give up you melon what they gonna do just walk home and they didn’t really try their best did they if the defenders couldn’t be bother to contend a single cross

Within 1 minute of the highlight you can see latvia defender literally cannot keep up to the pace of the wingers, they were just not at the same level of physical fitness

I went to this crazy game and it was amazing

When the year 11s play against year 7s

I could have scored against Latvia and I’m in a wheelchair 😢

San Marino's worst result was in 2006 in a UEFA Qualifier vs Germany - They lost 13-0! Western Samoa however once lost 31-0 to Australia in World Cup Qualifying {2001}.

Quite sad really, I can’t see Latvia or any club around the world wanting her in goal ever again even though there’s not much she could do with that cardboard cutout defence. Saying that though she should’ve made a couple of saves at least with the England team peppering her.

Latvia need a taller keeper... then it would only have been 10-0 instead of 20-0🤣

Back in highschool our school decided to finally make a football team to compete among the schools in the area so we all had absolutely zero experience except for one kid who used to play football in grade school. We were immediately put up against the second best school in the city and I think the game ended with them winning 12-2.

Well done to the ladies out there. You can only beat what's in front of you and they went and did that emphatically. That being said, I do think FIFA needs to look at the way the qualifying is set up when you look at results in the recent batch of games; R.O.I. 11 - 0 Georgia, Belgium 19-0 Armenia, N.I 11-0 and 9-0 in their last two games. How are the smaller footballing nations ever supposed to find their level like that? It happens across the men's game too but it seems the disparity in the women's game is much greater.

Because women's football isn't a sport. Even at the "top" level, the quality is poor. 20-0 would be the average score if the US or any of the other "leading" countries would play a men's team.

That’s because the disparity in the womens game IS much greater. In some of these countries there is little resources for the womens game. It’ll be this way for a while unfortunately.

Arbroath 36-0 Bon Accord is the result of a football match between Arbroath and Bon Accord which took place on 12 September 1885. Australia beat American Samoa 32 -0 . Both mens teams.
