Can we export only engineering data from any particular file for another file usage?

Thank you for the video. I have a question regarding inhouse material library: I have created a library which contains a number of materials most used by us. I loaded this library to my Engineering Data Source and everything is OK up to here. My problems start when I open projects created prior to me adding my own material library. So this means in my older projects my own library is not in the Engineering Data Sources. When I exit this older project it updates the file "engineeringdata.config" according to the data sources in that project and my own library is removed from Engineering Data Sources. I know I can avoid this by adding my own library to all my older projects so that when I open them this does not happen, but that is not very handy. Is there a way I can add my own library so that it permanently remains in the Engineering Data Source, the same as libraries included in Ansys workbench Engineering Data Sources? Can I add my own material library by editing a file so that it stays there permanently and not removed each time EngineeringData.config is updated? Thanks in advance.

Welcome ! If you added your engineering material in data sources & Selected material from that data sources and if you have saved this file. Then it should be present whenever you will open this file. The material will not be removed. Please check if you are adding properly or not.

You can connect other engineering data to your analysis deck (for ansys library file). If you have deleted your created material then you can import material model (xml file) in engineering data, refer our material related video.

You are missing some material property details. you can check material details needed from structural steel list (which is available by default) and same you can define for Al alloy. For transient thermal you will additional need of specific heat in addition to steady state thermal analysis material details.

how to corelate results of stress, deformation with material propteries can you explain??? everyone just showing results but not showing it is under material condition critera

As we know for ductile material, we need to see equivalent von mises stress and for brittle material compressive stresses. It is same in FEA too. We are not correlating the results with material but we are correlating reactions with the applied load. stresses are independent of material.

ANSYS have only general specific material properties in the library. You need to search on internet (Matweb) and then create material in ANSYS.

Sir my problem statement: Al7475 Density-2.85g/cc Young modulus - 70Gpa Thermal conductivity-163 W/mk Specific heat capacity - 0.88 J/g°C Sir,Can I put the specific heat capacity value in the specific heat (Cp) in thermal add new material ?

Sure. You can use specific heat. But it is needed for transient phenomenon. Sp. Heat is not need for steady state heat transfer analysis.

You can further add this values from material library. Or even you can import from other ansys file too.

You need to look for internet source (Matweb) or standards (ASME). We will try to upload few SN curves in our blogpost.

Hello, I need to add a new material to library for my internship project. I have tried to add a new material and its properties in engineering data sources when I'm trying to save the changes its asking to save the project in a specific format like MatML31 " writer failed to write format MatML31 " Please tell me what to do..? Hi, if you are planning to add new material. First define the material properties and then export the file in .xml format and use this file whenever you will need by importing xml file. Refer timeline 19 to 20 of this video.

Yes. ANSYS Only have generic material details. You need to add separately.

I accidently closed some tables in engineering data and now there are no materials to be shown. I've clicked the engineering data sources but no material appears anywhere. How can I bring back the materials data?

You can import that from another ansys library too. Try to reset workbench from options. if not worked, then saveas the material in one file and then import on another file.
