i am definitely glad that they have taken care of that issue with engine braking. i remember my old gs850 . boy that thing liked to hop that back wheel anytime your shifted down to aggressively haha. that is one sweet bike man!

Yeah...that much destabilization is no fun for sure! Thanks for the support.
Good explanation of adjustment for that bike. I just bought a new 2023 R1250GS and was startled while riding a very familiar stretch of downhill twisties on highway 1 in Northern California. The engine braking management very obviously kicked in on a sharp left-hander I always take at speed. (on my 2011 R1200GS). This had the unfortunate effect of accelerating the bike unexpectedly just as I was counting on engine braking, just before my intended acceleration out of the turn. The bike (unexpectedly) diminished its lean angle, straightened up and pointed me at the right side edge of the road. I was ready to brake, so no harm no foul, but the loss of direct engine braking control was in my view unnecessary and even dangerous in that circumstance. No one at the dealer service shop could tell me how to crank back the braking management software (without also disabling ABS) and I can’t find comparable settings to yours on the S1000. Thoughts? Ideas?
Very interesting! These new bikes sure are fancy with all the options. I definitely use alot of engine braking when just cruising around

Yeah...I think it is second nature to most of us. Breaking it down in this video and doing that short and easy demo certainly shows how much the engine brakes the bike.

@@ThrottleBackRubberDown you got it bro 🤜
Hiya Josh, I use engine breaking more than the brakes at slow speeds, another good video mate .....👍🏴🇬🇧

Thanks for the feedback. I have only ever driven manual cars and rode bikes since I turned 18...I can't say that I really think about it but I use engine braking in sync with brakes etc. It's just a natural part of how I drive and ride but I had good teachers. I have ridden with those that don't and that's a real head scratcher.
This was very helpful. Thank you.

Really appreciate the support. Looking forward to more of your stellar content. You got some dream machines on your channel for sure.
Wow! Programmable engine braking is 😎! I prefer engine brake to slow down to a stop whenever possible. 😁 If timed it right, I don't have to put my feet down before the light turned back to green.

Thanks for the support Mr. G!
As i understand, pulling the clutch lever will cancel any engine breaking setting. Right?

Correct. In fact...there is some interesting racing history to this end prior to slipper clutches and engine braking controls.
Why wouldn't you want engine breaking??? I can see no reason why in Dynamic you have less engine breaking than in road?? Can you explain?
Nice scenery!

Beautiful time of year to ride...minus all the dear!
I have been thinking about the engine braking on the XR. I think you came from a Multistrada so I’m curious how effective you feel engine braking is on the XR (in everyday riding) compared to the Multi. I had a 2014 Multi and now I’m on a 1250 GS. I prefer to use engine braking in the twisties rather than the brakes themselves.

Interesting that you ask. I found the engine brake on the MTS to be much more noticeable. I also find that the V-twin was much easier to heal/toe. Different characteristics for sure. If I am getting after it I don't like a ton of engine braking as I still feel like it unsettles the bike. I will use it to dump speed prior to tip in. Aggressive engine braking can help scrub off excess speed for sure. I definitely wouldn't want to drop a gear mid corner at the wrong RPM, however.
You didn’t simulate situations where that feature would be activated.
OMG how did you survive the leaves? I mean grass clippings kill millions haha! Kidding...

Hahah...right? I do hate me some wet leaves...especially when they are thick and you are moving at slow speeds.
Video seems great, but cannot watch it really -- mono audio only in the right ear is quite unpleasant. Thanks though!
I just purchased a 2020 s1000 rr still going thru the break in period. Im curios why does it have a pop noise coming from the muffler every time im in high rpm n i release the throttle it would make that noise or if i downshift n release the throttle it would pop in the muffler? I had the 2012 one n it didnt do that
