Engcon tiltrotator repair Part 4 EC206

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

With all the work with the snow this winter it was no time fixing the housing so I bought a new housing for the Engcon tiltrotator that I've been repairing, this is the Part 4 in this video series.

    @@MiniMachines1 Is that not a worry that the lower clearance is too great, allowing the grease out that way instead of pressurising it to send it up to the grease nipple?

    I'm glad you decided to repair this rotator. It will be very helpful in your work. It is very possible that if it was repaired in the right way (with the right welding technology, the casing would check or find out how to weld such castings) that part would not have to buy this. Any way, its nice you have invested some money to fix this rotator.

    Yes I still think it would have been possible to weld it, but with this winter and all the snow I didn't get time for anything of what I had planned so than I had to take the expensive but easy way 😊

    The Tiltrotator itself amazes me that it can do what it does and withstand most of the rigors of an excavator. When attached, do you find yourself trying to be extra gentle when you dig? I am guessing the 4 hose mod is so you can do more actions at once? I look forward to the controller build. Great videos. Thanks for them.

  • @MiniMachines1

    Yes it's an awesome tool, with the homemade one that I've been using I wasn't too careful about, and this one is made for an bigger machine so shouldn't be any problems giving it full power. The way it was set up running with 2 hoses was one supply and one free return, than the electronic decided withc function got oil. Since I don't have the electronic controller I need to controle it by the oil supply than I need 2 hoses for ech function.

    Lot of work to reassemble but worth it in the end. Very useful attachment, wish I had one. How much does it weigh fully assembled, and do you find it takes away from your overall lifting capacity?

  • @MiniMachines1

    @MiniMachines1

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes it was some work but I really enjoyed reassembly it, was like Lego for grownups😁 this one is actually for an 4-6 ton machine so it's a bit heavier than it needs to be, it weighs 170kg (374pound) the model ment for 2-4 ton machines weighs 120kg (264 pounds) I haven't testet it with dirt yet so won't know until I start using it.

    When rotating your bucket (or whatever), do you need a lot of torque that a worm gear is needed? I'm curious why the worm drive was chosen in the design of the tiltrotators as opposed to just regular gears. If most of your rotating is done with the bucket in the air, I think a worm drive would be more power than is needed and maybe simpler designs could be made.

    Did the grease come out on the bottom because of a seal left out?

  • @MiniMachines1

    @MiniMachines1

    4 жыл бұрын

    I guess it was an air pocket or something that stopped the greas to come out where it should, but when I noticed it came out under I changed direction on the rotation and than it came out where it should. When it's operating and you grease it the grease will come out under so the seal is more a dust seal.
