She could literally retire today and never worry about work another day in her life. But she really enjoys her work and wants to show our kids what work ethic can achieve. You think the ring I bought is cheap but she bought her own wedding ring, which cost about half what I paid for the engagement ring. Been engaged for 4 years (COVID pushed wedding by 2 years) and we're getting married in a few months. What we do may not work for you but it's working for us. *Shrugs* We're happy. After 5 years, still feels like a dream.

We are more primal than I expected… basically getting engaged is bringing your female partner the best rock you can find and presenting it when she’s most vulnerable.

So what my boyfriend and I did was choose 5 rings each of us liked and sent the list to the other. That way, it was still a surprise, but we'd know we would like what we got. Worked out great!
