Maniac also have two meanings, good one and bad one not only in Russia but in the world too. Person who have mania, mania is like nonstop desire to do something same, passion for something. In our case its connected to otaku culture. In the main context having mania is Kindly bad as some kind of disorder even if mania is not dangerous. People are used to use maniac as describe criminals and psychopaths in the bad case of mania but there is still can be a good one. Like he have a mania to watch anime . So its bad Google translate option at all but its still kinda right at some Point too. When I heard that I was like, Maniac, what? Are you nuts, Google?

Actually Botan means some special species peony flower in Japanese. (and yes, the word for “button” in Japanese is pronounced the same way). In Chinese it’s pronounced as “Mudan” and in Japanese it’s “Botan”, in both languages they can be written as “牡丹” They were mostly cultivated in east Asia, and does not seem to be widely cultivated in the west, so I didn’t find a very “common name” for this kind of flower, I only found a very academic name from wiki (Paeonia × suffruticosa) In Japan and China these flowers are used as decorations since long ago and play an important role in traditional cultures. These flowers are elegant and majestic, and they are also considered the “queen of flowers” in East Asian culture. And another fun fact is that in many Japanese traditional crafts, Botans are depicted together with lions. Because lions are considered “the king of animals”, and Botans are considered to be “the queen of flowers”. You can search for 「獅子に牡丹」(Shishini Botan) if you are interested.
"Botan" means "nerd" and sometimes in kinda negative way. Like asocial nerd who's studying too hard.

Shishiron = White Lion, Lion is the king of all beast. Botan = Peony Flower, king of all flower. "Peony flower and the chinese lion" is a phrase in chinese, because these two things compliments each other, one representing masculinity and the other femininity, two opposite forces but when put together they resonate just like one, there's also a similar phrase in chinese saying " Beside the lion there lies the peony, outside the tiger's cavern there grew rose."

Botan literally means peony, the flower, but in Japan it's also a name for wild boar meat. Some said, during a particular period of Japanese history, vegetarianism was enforced by law, but like most draconian laws that did not work: many restaurants still offered meats, but as they could not openly advertised it, they painted flowers on their signs not just for decoration but as a code for the meats on offer.
