Ugh sometimes fans feel like they have a sense of ownership over the identities of their idols.... she has clarified several times that she is straight, and stereotyping her because of the way she looks does more harm than good to all parties.There is no way of knowing based off of appearance, and gender expression is not always in concurrence with sexuality. Amber probably feels really burdened by people consistently disrespecting her, and at the same time, girlier lesbians probably feel uncomfortable coming out because they don't fit the "mold." If people are really that uncomfortable with ideas like a tomboy straight girl, or a girly lesbian, or a masculine gay man, or a feminine straight man, then is your "gaydar" really helping to change stereotypes? Looks to me like it just creates more. And along that vein, appearance doesn't necessarily link to gender identity either. She identifies as a woman, and one of her big strong points is that she gives other girls the inspiration that they can define femaleness for themselves. Get a life people, and focus on her music and how awesome she is, not on who you think she'd rather have in her pants.

"vibes or mannerisms" that's what i'm getting at. It's interpreting someone's behavior and deciding what you think it means. Some lesbians don't give off "gay vibes" and some straight people DO give off "gay vibes." In different contexts (a women's college vs a coed college) people make different assumptions and interpret those "vibes" in wildly different ways. Those are just stereotypes about how people are supposed to act, and i'm not saying that they don't concur sometimes with sexuality, but not all the time. Look, i don't care what she is, straight bi pan ace whatevs, i'm just saying it's not nice when a fan looks at their idol and tries to insert their wishes or their judgement when it could be putting pressure on the very person that they're a fan of. As we've seen from recent posts from her IG she's really tired of people focusing on this in general, she's tired of being asked who she likes and i think probably wants fans to focus on her music, unless she herself goes out of her way to make sexuality relevant to her fandom, which she isn't. A lot of the times people judging who they think she is, is a way for the fan to create her in the way that they want her to be.

The only reason i responded this way was because she HAS pretty much clarified it, i wasn't trying to reinforce any sort of heteronormative pattern or anything, sorry if it came off that way. She's said in past radio interviews that she finds it weird when fans ship her romantically with female idols, though she's thankful that they see her as caring towards her friends so she takes that response as a good thing. Ailee also mentioned on 4things show that Amber is more actively looking for a boyfriend and thinking about dating these days. Honestly that pretty much says "I don't see myself with girls but thx peeps." What i'm questioning is the fact that she has clarified her sexuality a few times in ways like that, but fans continue to grab onto her because they want her to be an LGBTQ icon, and she's trying to be a hella supportive ally while also saying that she's not lgbtq (at least by her own standards). If she was that deep in the closet to be saying stuff like that, that would be pretty heartbreaking, and if she did have something to come out for i would be the first fan to back her up. The only reason i'm responding is because fans are being super aggressive these days and the girl just wants to live. She can be a girl and look like a boy, she can look "butch" (not the most savory of words, i know) and still be straight. And it isn't the end of the world to assume she's queer (since obvi love is love) , but it's frustrating for her personally and she actually has expressed frustration, on insta, in that respect. And I think it's just as wrong when people assume every girly idol is straight too, like i go to a women's college and i can tell you the girly lesbians are the ones who have the hardest times finding love because they get basically erased by "gaydar" since none of them "fit the bill." The point is to just take what she says at face value, take what anyone says at face value and stop acting like fans are the authority on their idols, idols are humans who should get to determine themselves too.

That was a really great response you got there. For a second I thought you did push some heteronormative crap onto her like a lot of people. And much like the fans that desperately want her to be gay because "Omg shes so hot, I want her to top me already!" You gave great points on Amber possibly being straight, but I wont believe it until she finally speaks up about it (and same can go for other idols who are possibly gay.) For me her response to that interview seemed iffy to me, like she wasn't trying to give herself away. I'm pretty sure its not that difficult for a straight person to say they're straight, especially when their sexuality is said to be something other than "straight", and would definitely get fans to finally stop talking about it. which is what gets me kinda suspicious tbh, but that's what I think anyway.

She travel for more than 1 year after graduated without working. Amber attend international school in Korea (pretty expensive) Amber doesn't have to send money to her family. (Her family is fine without it) that's why Amber wears expensive clothes. and especially her 'Nike' She has tons of it.

As an f(x) fan, i am so happy kyuhyun for that 2 seconds said how luna is an amazing singer. Until now, i don't feel people are giving her the credit she deserves. For example, in shake that brass, people said her voice was not as great as Ailee. Fair enough, Ailee voice is extremely powerful and i love her as a singer as well. However, Luna really does not fall behind although her voice is not as powerful-sounding as ailee, she also hit all the notes and runs effortlessly. She really is one of the best idol singers out there and ppl always seem to think she's just okay, :/. Watch her performances on immortal songs, such as one thousand years (she totally nailed it vocal wise, and i did feel the emotions-although i would say she has improved ALOT in rly bringing out the emotions now. ) Now that amber has showed the world how beautiful her singing is, i am waiting for the day she truly gets the recgnoition she deserves, show korea the voice( not to mention her dance ability) she has, she's still young i believe that day will come 😄

I really love Amber's style i adore her..I love being a tomboy and wish to be like her..

When the translation say "low life" I think it mean that he is more gangster looking or hip hop type. She is so adorable, she blush when they mention the guy from the army hahha. Kyuhyun so cuteee. Poor Donghae he is to gentlemen for amber hahaha

I love Amber so much, I’m also a tomboy and been like it since I was born. I’ve recently cut my hair short like Amber, but people are saying that she is gay but in the closet because she can’t say she’s gay because it can ruin her career. I just wanna say that you can be a tomboy and like boys or maybe she might like both, like me. Know matter what her sexuality is I’ll always support her. Love u Amber x

Personally, I think she is gay and I totally get why she claims to be straight. South Korea is extremely homophobic. I remember a K-Pop star who came out as gay and was treated like a pariah so much that he killed himself. It's that bad.

Personally, I don't think Amber is a lesbian. However, I do find it annoying that people in the comments are either saying she's gay or straight. As a bisexual woman myself, I can attest to the fact that you can be somewhere in the middle of that range. I suspect she might be bisexual, and I'm usually pretty good at guessing when someone else is bi, but she also might just be straight. Honestly, it doesn't really matter. Who she happens to be attracted to or fall in love with is her business. Whatever makes her happy, makes me happy. No matter what her sexuality is, Amber will always be my female bias, and I'll love her just the same, because the things I like about her have nothing to do with her sexuality, and everything to do with who she is as a person.
