Remembering something random like that from elementary school wouldn't be easy, even if Marine is as old as she claims. I can't even remember the stuff I did with my best friend in middle school, or the cool instrument players in my class. Elementary school is an even longer time. Not trying to come off as rude, but there's nothing to worry about, especially if Senchou is 20+.

Ruby and Sapphire's release year was 2002. Elementary school is 8 years long. Elementary school starts when one is about 7 years old. This gives us a 7-15 year old Marine in 2002. Bring it to the present and we have 25-33 years of age. It IS a rough estimate, but those are the two major constraints around which Marine's age should be. And yes, if Marine is 33 at present, then she was likely in her last year of elementary school when those drawings were made.

Actually surprised me, I was sure she was older. Even if she was talking about K-on's manga (which I doubt, I think it only became popular when it got animated), the manga started in 2007. Even if she was at the end of high school then, and was 17, she would only be 30. My honest to god guess was that she was mid-30s, but I guess that's out of the question since I very much doubt she purposely lied about a detail like that. Basically, assuming she was watching K-on as it came out, the youngest that would put her at is 25 (p sure that's younger than some of the other hololive members) and the oldest is 30 (which 99% isn't the case).

Looking back to old drawings will make anyone damn-near die from embarrassment.

Senchou's drawing skills are amazing. I got introduced to her thanks to her Picross streams and grew to like her more from that point onwards. I'll have to advance quite a bit in my Japanese studies to get to understand her rap-god speech and voabulary in real time sadly, but I watch her streams every now and then nonetheless. Hyped for her 3D collab with Korone on the 25th.

1:35 3rd gen released in late 2002, so she probably drew this in 2003. Elementary school is for children between 6 and 11. Late 20's gang (29) is as boomer as she gets.

That's actually really good advice at the end there, to think about what you're drawing and try figuring out how to draw something yourself.

Oh man, Senchou's artist days in school are so similar to mine it hurts! But it also feels great to know she fell into a lot of the same *cough* pitfalls I did, and still came out a fantastic artist thanks to her diligence and hard work. It gives me hope!

I mean, it's old for japanese standards where the term "christmas cake" is used (for those who don't know, tldr is it's an insult used for single women 26+ implying that no one would want them anymore), but for western standards I wouldn't call it old at all. My sister is getting married at 28 and my first reaction when she told us was "what? Already?!"

@@SheffiTB I get the impression that people get married quite later now compared to the past. It was common to be married as a teen or in your early 20's in the past and now that's just way too early for most people.

The first half of the video had me screaming YAMEROOOOO. I used to love drawing, until school broke me and I never did it again ever since; but I have always been a perfectionist, so any drawing I didn't like I destroyed it immediately or even before I finished them (I think the only ones that survived were the ones I gave away). It makes me feel the same way when she shows her old stuff, especially because of her reactions. ... but I have to say. Her recent drawings are really good. I really like her art style.

I'm so jealous of her art! Its amazing!

I agree a lot with what she says at the end. I drew a lot in elementary to high school just like her but I barley made any progress in my skill cause I just drew random stuff that popped into my head without much thought. You can't improve your drawings just by drawing a lot. You actually have to be in the mindset of wanting to improve and doing new things to try and make your art better. it is something in have only been doing recently and it helps a lot. Seeing art that you like and taking techniques they use and trying to useit to your own work and seeing the improvements is very satisfying.

Ha, her middle school drawings were already far better than anything I could, and can, do. And she's come a long way.

she makes me want to start drawing again. I used to draw a lot, especially mechas and monsters, but for reasons I can't remember anymore, I stopped drawing when I entered college.
