If not gfriend, source music is just unknown company who owns a basement only. How can they kick gfriend away and terminate them. To be honest, no hate towards the New gg. At a marketing perspective *from a business major*, when a company buys out another, leadership within that company usually changes, as well as company protocols. It wouldn't make sense for SoMu to termine GFriends contract since they were all doing so well before the acquisition. Upper management from SoMu would most likely be different now since they report to Hybe. An similar example *not exact* of this would be Walt Disney Studios acquiring Blue Sky, which was the studio notable for films like "Ice Age", previously owned by 21st Century Fox. For people that aren't aware, Disney shut down Blue Sky Studio but has still used films that were originally under Blue Sky's name, and made by the former studio's employees. Now, the only difference is that Disney shut down Blue Sky, but has access to all of the former studio's work. The similarities appear before Blue Sky was Shut down, which is generally true for all business acqusitions made by big companies to smaller ones. The company that gets bought now reports to it's parent company, this as well goes for all the staffs. What other big companies do when they make acquisitions like this is they either put their employees in charge of the subsidiaries *the companies bought* (SoMu in this case) and have the old employees report to the new bosses, or in worse cases, lay off the former heads of the company and replace them entirely.

SoMu has no sa whatsoever in regards to what happens because Hybe has the final say. There's a lot of things that can happen with subsidiaries. They either still stick to operating as an "independent" company and mostly just get monetary funding from the parent company, the parent company intervenes and restructures the subsidiary to mold it more like how the parent company operates internally, or what disney did and just shut down the acquired company entirely and just go for it's "belongings" and skills I should say.

Source and Hybe will never be forgiven and we will never forget. I like Le Sserafim but GFriend was on a whole different level than LS is now. In every way. Vocals, dancing, stage presents, charisma etc.

The first time I heard the news that Source Music would collaborate with HYBE, I reflexively cried in front of my best friend because at that time I was with her. I don't even understand why I was crying, but after Gfriend was declared disbanded I just realized that my crying at that time was a sign that it was a mistake and my sharp instincts knew that it wasn't a good thing.

So how is that HYBE's fault exactly? Their label was still Source Music, they just had more money since being part of HYBE group. Source Music is the one to blame since they decided they could survive without GFRIEND thanks to HYBE's money.

Just for this reason alone they should have offered the girls a nice, more advantageous, new contract. @@Fairy_buttercup10 all 7 and 13 members of BTS and Seventeen renewed their contracts though, and that's a lot. Actually that's more members than any other 3rd gen group cmiiw. Belift is half owned by CJENM so of course the group is screwed lol. Tbh I hated how they handled the n word controversy with Heeseung, and I'm still traumatized by the racist comments on Weverse so I stopped following Enhypen and the label.

I knew it was fishy when Source Music suddenly collabed with HYBE (or bought *cough*) and then they announced that they're gonna debut a new GG. I just hope that Gfriend will be able to get back what they worked hard for. (and their YT channel is surely still getting money, we all should keep that in mind)

I learned very early on in kpop not to stan a company.

When YG disbanded 2NE1 just so they can focus on Blackpink, it was terrible but at least they released a heartfelt goodbye song as a proper send off. Meanwhile GFriend got nothing. After months and months of speculation they just cut them off. You'd think a beloved 3rd Gen group should've been given more respect than that, but it is what it is. Felt bad for them and Buddies 😞

No matter what I will continue supporting my girl's wherever they are . Though bad things happened to them I know my girls aren't that weak hearted that they would give up . They will stand up again and again no matter how much they fall (like yuju😎) and during those time I just hope that all buddies can continue supporting them without looking in the past and staying hung about what happened cause we can't reverse it so they look into the future . Let's support sinb umji Eunha as viviz , yuju's solo and the other members no matter what they do. And one day they will reunite as *YEOJACHINGU* and that day will be our victory 😊

Exactly. The fandom should have suspected something when they didn't renew the year before. Source Music has a history of not renewing contracts, none of their previous groups lasted long. They probably decided they can only manage one group at a time smh

I also think of how they feel about it. But maybe for selfish reasons (to be debut, to be a big group because it’s under hybe) they dont give a fck about it. I dont know but their music about being fearless and antifragile makes me feel like “why do you think already that you have haters? It’s not difficult to make analytical conclusion from there, it’s not a rocket science, they are not having a holiday or hiatus together. They were forcedly disbanded. The way people stan the company instead of the talent/artist… smh…

@@amaritb I do a rather objective observation of the situation, as I kinda like GFriend but I’m not a Buddy. It makes no difference to me if they disband or not, although it draws my attention. Calling it “they were fired mercilessly!” like many heated stans are doing since day one is not analytical at all, quite biased actually. You don’t factually know they were forced to quit, but you WANT to believe so. I don’t believe in neither, but all the “clues” so far tend to suggest everything is as the corporate announcement said, “the girls decided to not renew”. Of course I’ve my theories of what really happened, and I’ve been right in two of them so far: one, they knew it beforehand and two, neither them nor the agency had the guts to face the fans, so these resent revelations are not a surprise for me. I’m just following the updates only to verify what else I’ve nailed.

Gfriend only got one scandal which is about sowon and that happen months before the disbandment announcement. 2021 was a perfect year for gfriend to have solo activities, how could their company treat them so bad? Hybeshit is still after gfriend's trademark they want to money from the girls, but evil people will not win. Knetz will fight Gfriends trademark no matter what their relevance and influence in south korea is still so strong. Source mushit is using Gfriend's money for their next gg which will be the new group of some ex-izone members. That company is really hypocrite, look they will debut a new gg with 6 members on May. May is the disbandment month of gfriend and consist of 6 members. They also copy gfriends lore (crimson heart) and just do some adjustments like butterflies into fireflies. The hatred that fans have to gfriend's former company will never die. So you can't force fans to not believe the rumors that source mushit fire them to give way to their new gg.

My guess (and that's what it is, a guess, I don't go around turning vague suppositions into facts) is that some of the members wanted some freedom to do interesting side projects and that maybe also the group as a whole was considering moving onto another agency. And since they are all adults, both the girls and the company, they all openly discussed about it like adults and then decided in good terms to put an end to the group as it is (well, was); that'd would explain several things, including the agency retaining the "GFriend" brand (so the girls can't use it later on under another agency) while still allowing them to sing their songs, because it was a friendly split and there's no bad blood from any of the sides after all. Also, the rather slow activity due to the "VID" may have helped speed up the end of the contract.

Also lesserfim wouldve still been a powerhouse gg with or without soumu. I mean ppl still dont even realise lesserafim is under soumu and theyve been out for a while now. Are you being serious? gfriend did that without any privilegie you forget that they come from a literal basement. You are so used to groups having privileges since their debut that you don't even realize everything that gfriend did, no other of those groups could have done if they came from the same situation as gfriend, with 6 people on the staff, since a basement, without vocal coaches or choreographers, yuju and sinb self-teaching the members to sing and dance, being cut from TV for being nugus, being treated badly by the privileges of big companies (in melon the Korean fans literally came out to say that they stole their seats to give them to the fans of twice and red velvet)
