What a great actor Xu Weizhou is, love love the way he looks at Jing Tian whenever the two have a moment and especially in this episode! He had me completely convinced that his character in totally in love with her! love all of his outfits and most of hers🥰🥰😘

Timmy looked very elegant + debonair, but what was most attractive was Jia Shang's sense of loyalty and responsibility to his family, Shi Zhen + the victims of his father's crimes.

I'm fairly new to the c drama scene and I'm so impressed with the productions and how skilled the actors really are, they've raised the emotional value of the scenes to a whole new level for me!😘

@@maggiechan33 I loved the production & storyline as a whole. It depicted pre-revolutionary Chinese history. As a Love story it reflected the differences in social structure & the inner conflict faced by each of them having to choose between filial loyal, responsibility & following their heart. I loved them as a couple. JT & TX's acting was superb & made me believe their feelings were real, I was swept away by their romance. The other roles were acted out the same, with passion for their roles. The cinematography was vivid & specular with great attention fromt the architecture, attire, hairstyles to the props reflecting Chinese Social & political history during the heyday of British influence; making me feel I was there as the story unfolded. Having studied the revolutionary history of China I really appreciate just how much effort was put into all the details, making it ease to binge watch in 2 days. I think that this drama is a bit underrated by some viewers. I'd love to get your opinion on this drama too! Cheers, Aziza in Canada!😺

@@Aziza654 Thank you immensely for your detailed + insightful comments. I am a fan of Jing Tian since the flick, "The Great Wall" w Matt Damon. Because she was excellent in "Rattan", I wanted to check out this drama. I knew that Timmy Xu is a singer, but nothing more about him. But I was really impressed by his acting here, probably because I totally identified with his character, and the untenable situation he was in - torn between loyalty to his family (his sisters were completely innocent) + pursuing the love of his life, whom was greatly wronged by his father. I agree with Shi Zhen's need for justice/revenge, but after Meng planned the murder of innocent bystanders @ the auction, I was livid with her, for her continual collaboration with him, whom is a triad boss + just as evil as Jia Shang's father. She was an intelligent + capable woman; she could have taken down Rong Ding Kun, without shady, manipulative Meng's assistance + resources, esp when Jia Shang was very sympathetic to her agenda + will eventually fulfill all the promises he made to her, beside giving her all the family's legitimate assets. I have come to expect quality production value from Chinese Dramas, so I am usually more focused on the the characters + plot - I love the sweet maid Xiao Yu, the thoughtful + considerate younger sister Fang Hwa, + of course Moon Cake, + came to appreciate playboy buddy Yun Chi, whom at times, was Jia Shang's only support system.(besides providing Jia Shang with vital info) This drama only received a 7.9 on "My Drama List", but I still love it, esp Timmy's expressive, soulful eyes, with his gorgeous smile. I think Sally Jing Tian's acting was slightly better in Rattan, which also has a handsome ML - Zhang Bin Bin. It was delightful connecting with you from the States - Enjoyable Drama Watching !

I liked the whole drama but I agree maybe the writers should have made the ending similar to this episode because the ending was a bit of a let down!

this drama would have been perfect if it ended in this or the next episode. Episodes 31 -40 are really unnecessary I think. They spoilt it for me. I wouldn't lose love foe avenging a father I never even knew.
