I feel like there's many different types of British and American humor. A lot of Americans like certain British humor and vice versa.

If Mr. Bean is representative of British humor, then I think you can deduce that British humor is more adaptable for an international audience than American humor. Mr. Bean has become an international hit, while Seinfeld, as funny as it is, is more difficult for foreigners, particularly from non-European cultures to understand. Even more so any comedy that uses a lot of sarcasm, such as Big Bang Theory. Totally boring for most non-Europeans/non-Americans unless they have an excellent command of the English language and spent some time in a native English speaking country.

@@therock8224 you understand that mr bean is internationaly liked because there is no dialog in it, meaning there are no translation issues in the humor.

@@relapse2000 That's true to some extent but the fact is, sarcasm doesn't translate well and is not considered funny in non-western cultures. Mr. Bean is slapstick hence why it's so well received internationally as slapstick comedy tends to be enjoyed by cultures all over the world. British comedy also makes use of sketches, which despite there being some dialogue is easier to translate and more adaptable for international audiences than American comedy.

@@therock8224 But British humor is also more subtle, sometimes even to the point where native English speakers might miss the joke, which I would imagine would be even worse when it's translated. I also don't see slapstick humor as being more British or more American.

@@relapse2000 Slapstick humor is more British than American. American comedies rely much more on sarcasm, which non-westerners will find difficult to understand. Although you may be right that some forms of British humor, which are subtle may make it more difficult for some native English speakers to understand but I think you are referring mainly to Americans. Americans are a funny bunch - they are always different from the rest of the world, even to the point of not understanding British people's humor or accents. Yet non-native English speakers seem to be perfectly capable of understanding both. In conclusion, I can guarantee you - go to Asia or Africa or anywhere outside of the western world and try asking the locals if they think Seinfeld or the Big Bang Theory is funny to them. Most will be confused by them, though they might find some of the scenes where Kramer and George use gesticulating or getting angry mildly amusing, but that's about it. American sarcasm does not translate well. Period.

I love Tyler... I can easily identify myself with him... The Brits I live and worked with either have dry humor or sarcastic to the core. Either way, they are hilarious... There is a program called 'Imbetweeners" which is quite close to come of their type of humor... Mr. Bean is more of a slapstick kind of comedy but with some wits. Anyway, the actor Mr Bean has a degree of Electrical Engineering from Newcastle University and have a Master's degree on the same field from Oxford University. Totally different from his bumbling character.

As much as I respect Tyler and Mark intelligence and opinions, I hope that other American representatives who will be on the show will be the opposite of them, meaning, more cool and less awkward.
