As someone(as described) that only watches ASL and has been following professional SC since it's inception, this was such a cool unique tourney and I REALLY hope AfreecaTV continues more with SC Evo.

This was suuuper fun!!!!! We for sure want more And my biggest take away: dragoons that aren’t derping out on pathing are very, very scary. Scarabs that aren’t derping are terrifying.

Uh... What do you mean back to life? The game is far from dead and still has plenty of people interested in it.

This has no right to be a mere mod, this has to become a part of the original game! This was so refreshing. It felt like the "strategy" part of this RTS had gone stale after the game was figured out to the point where it's mostly just execution, but this brings it right back with 15 additional new matchups! (Yes, this includes all six SC1 matchups, it's a different engine, thus everything controls way differently)

If they put a whole ton of prize money into this mode, and make it an official tournament then it will become more popular for sure. Obviously someone has to work on the game balance.

@@tigera6 game balance is irrelevant, until its had months to a year of pros on it. And even then, it has an answer, bw is the most imbalanced RTS on the market and its survived with 20 years of zero game balance.

economy too, not just engine, 12 workers from 4 is a huge difference. Sadly it removes a lot of the early game builds cause you can just kill it with 14-16 workers. But I don't know if everyone is in the same camp as me on getting rid of the 12 worker starts

@@vexienroe 23 years to be exact, but your point is kinda valid. In BW everything is broken, its just some things are more broken and still there are counter plays even if some of them are situational or extremely difficult to execute.

I've been playing SC1 for 20 years. This is the first time I actually enyojed watching a SC2 game. We need more of this

Haha same. I know almost everything about broodwar and watch pro games almost daily, and have almost no knowledge of sc2 and never had interest. But this is really cool and was about the only way I’d be able to find any interest in sc2. I hated the complicated graphics at first but I guess I’m getting more used to it

@@peterhardie4151 same here, this is such an interesting concept when it comes to people’s personal preference. I always appreciate the strategy, but could never get into SC1 because of the low quality graphics and wonky building and unit designs where I can’t really tell what’s going on. So this is perfect for me. Only way I can enjoy SC1.

@@kevinb.3656 Funny to hear that. I feel the exact way about SC2 whereas BW is so easy for me to look at and understand. Even watching this knowing I'm looking at BW units in SC2 engine made my head hurt a bit. I grew up on 2.5D / isometric view engines (D2, BW, WC2) so makes sense. I remember when WC3 came out I would get headaches playing it.

This was by far one of the best SC experiences I ever had. I hope you can do this tournament format again!

Classic is a certified G. He had a mini renaissance last year pulling some upsets & making it to the GSL code S semi finals where he lost to GuMiho 3-1 thus placing 3rd/4th (as did his teammate in this event, Dark, who lost to Solar, the eventual winner.) He's a guy that loses some games he prob shouldn't but also pulled off consecutive reverse sweeps to win the 2018 AfreecaTV GSL super #2. My fav sc2 protoss is MaxPax but Hero & Classic are just barely right behind. Maxpax's only knock is the fact he has never played an offline event.

@@kainakrit9311 I was sure I remembered Winter saying that too but I just checked liquipedia and it seems he returned in August of 21. He placed 4th in World Team League that yr while still in the military & then after getting back up to speed full-time in 22, he placed 2nd in Wardi's TeamLiquid Map Contest #8 losing 2:3 to Solar in the finals and was on the winning team "Stasis Wardis" that won the Caster's Civil War. In his finals match he beat Lambo evening up the score 1:1 after Serral had beaten Solar. Byun & Spirit also won after Creator lost to Armani giving them a 3:2 victory. In the Semifinals he opened the series against GuMiho claiming an early victory and Solar & Spirit won after Creator lost for a 3:1 victory.

There were so many things to love about this format. The 4v4 at the beginning really set the tone wonderfully, the team format was fun, the players seemed to be having a good time and it was cool to see them thinking on their feet a bit more. I love how broken the liberator is in T2 vs Z1 😂

That was funny as hell seeing this as a BW players. SC2 T just parked one liberator on top of Action's hatchery and that was that. He was probably raging, at the same time watching helplessly his drones get one shotted :)

This is the most fun I've had watching Starcraft in recent memory. This mod makes the mirror matchups much more interesting to watch. I hope AfreecaTV does more of this!

I usually don't watch a ton of starcraft 2 but having my favorite players from ASL playing it and with broodwar mod was reeeaaaally fun. I hope we see more of this in the future. This was trully a genuine experience of people playing for fun as it should be.

I didn’t know what to expect seeing the title, but this was great. I hope this becomes a regular thing. Snow having too much fun with SC2 AI reavers is good to see.

Such a cool event from AfreecaTV. This mods brings both communities together and it's cool to see how both communities embrace this mod. Show matches like this will surely bring attention to Starcraft franchise and maybe if the demand is high, Blizzard will act on it?

Wow, this is very cool, and just might be the killer mod that revives the popularity of SC franchise in Korea for a while! It'd be hard to get it going in other regions as not many play SC1.

This is so fucking hype. Been playing StarCraft Broodwar since 2006, and StarCraft 2 since 2016. I think StarCraft Evolution Complete is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen this year!! Adding 3 factions that everyone knows adds so many new matchups, without being too overwhelming. Insane to watch new metas evolve, stay curious everyone 🎉❤

That was awesome. Honestly I haven't been watching much SC the past 4~5 months but this match has re-sparked my interest! The balance is so weird and the games swing back and forth so quickly. The potential for some really interesting matches is there and I want to see more! 2:52:00 is like a my dad vs your dad argument😂

These matches were more back and forth in most cases than the normal leagues. Great experience!

One of the best sc experiences I ever had. Some crazy games today, hope we get to see more.

This is just sooooo refreshing and entertaining! Novelty in SC world is just so scarce, I haven't been this excited about the game in a loooong while :) The fact that the mod is imbalanced in many areas actually just adds to the fun watching!
