el r I don't think it has to do with the caste system. I'm thinking it's similar to my culture (Hmong), which means he's referring to their (birth) generations, that's why Suga would be the "uncle" because he's born of the same family generation as Kyung Hoon's father. For example, my cousin's 2 sons are older than her youngest brother, so even though the nephews are older, they are lower in lineage/family rank as their uncle and gives him the respect/acknowledgment of an elder person as is common in many Asian cultures. I hope that makes sense. Western cultures just use different terms.

pc vue yeah I think that's it too I've seen another episode in which it was mentioned that Kyung Hoon was the 34th generation of a royal family which probably quite a few Mins out there are part of too (not sure tho I'm not Korean and my culture doesn't really have this so I don't really get it lol). Suga maybe is 33rd generation or something making him "higher" than Kyung Hoon. Then again, don't quote me on this I'm not really sure how all of this works.

just to explain how suga is 'kinda' uncle to kyunghun: in korea, we have this thing with naming(not like everyone does it, but ppl still do. especially for male members). family members that belong to same generation shares a single chinese character on their names. usually koreans have their names composed of two chinese characters(excludinf the family name ex.Min), so one is shared, the other original. in yoongi's case, listenin to kh's comment, Gi is the shared one. ao kh's father must have a name that has Gi at the end: Min something GI. not perfectly sure about how it goes, but if suga decides to follow the tradition, his son's name will have kyung character in it. it's quite clever, thinking u'll be able to know approximately how ur family line goes, and ur relationship with the other person is, just by knowing his name. But, since they are very distant relatives, this doesnt really mean anything(i heard u have to properly address as uncles and all even if u're older when u're in some formal event, but it's rare) i did some more research(wikipedia level so dont trust all) : Apparently, min family keeps to the naming rule strictly, so it’s very likely Yoongi’s son will be Min Kyung - .

L.P oh wait it’s not that they are getting the character from a certain person. it’s already decided among the family. that Gi is for older generation than kyung. Suga is in the same generation with KH’a father.

when children are born, they are named with the character, calculating their generation. some lines of the family may have children faster than the others, so although younger in age (like suga), they could be elder in sense of generation

For those who don’t understand the hierarchy thing, it’s basically meaning Yoongi comes from the older generation. For example, let’s say Yoongi’s dad is the oldest of all his siblings, but a younger sibling of his got married and had kids before him, which their kid later grows up and has their own child (kyunghyun). Around this time, yoongi is born, and the age gap between him and kyunghyun would be huge, but he would still be considered kyunghyun’s uncle bc yoongi’s dad is older, he just had a kid at a later time. Im in the same boat as them since both my parents are the oldest of their siblings but I was the late child so I have 20-30 yr olds calling me aunty on both sides. Sometimes they’re even the same age as me. It’s crazy.

@@yoonkieae7507 yea, and hyung hoon knows that suga is his uncle by asking his name, because of the naming system in their clan. All the kids in suga's generation should be named as "yoon-xxx" (yoon generation) while kids in kyunghoon's generation should be named as "kyung-xxx" (kyung generation)

Para los que no entienden cuando Yoongi dice "soy más alto que tu" se refería a que en el árbol genealógico de los Min la sílaba "Gi" está más arriba que la de "Kyung" por lo tanto Yoongi llega a ser mayor que Kyung por su puesto en el árbol genealógico osea que Kyung está más abajo que Yoongi sin importar que Yoongi sea menor ya que los Kyung tienen más descendencia que los Gi por lo que genera que Yoongi este más arriba que Kyung en el árbol genealógico. For those who do not understand when Yoongi says "I am taller than you" he meant that in the Min family tree the syllable "Gi" is higher than "Kyung" therefore Yoongi becomes greater than Kyung because of his position in the family tree that Kyung is lower than Yoongi regardless of Yoongi being smaller since the Kyung have more offspring than the Gi.
