I personally like the "i want you" and the "i dont think so" being repeated. I usually dont like so much repetition in songs but it... actually works really well in this. Its addictive and works with the obsession concept perfectly.

Thank you for sharing your honest opinions! I agree that with most of Exo's title songs you have to listen to them multiple times to really get them. They tend to be very complex. For me, the ultimate test is how it sounds in my car while I am driving. This one passed the test! lol.

I'm so in love with Obsession, this comeback is one of my favorites till the moment, it's so unique with that sample and OMG the visuals are stunning, since the first time I watched the MV felt totally obsessed with the song; the full album is incredible as well. EXO is always putting the bar so high with their amazing music and concepts.

LIT tv the hook, or rather the part where they start with “thousand nights” is very R&B, as well as the bridge at the end of the song. Song is weirdly mellow though for having such a hard beat😂

And CM, I totally agree with you about the repetition of “I want you” and “I don’t think so” to indicate Obsession. After listening to the digital album, I was obsessed with it before it even came out. it's the title track of EXO's 6th album with the same name. This song brings trap bass blend with synthwave and jazzy accapella influences similar to their 2018 track "Tempo" with a vocal refrain running throughout the song. Lyric-wise it comes as a warning toward an ex-lover or friend, corrupt media, SAESANGS and Anti-fans to stay away avoiding entitlement which is a constant issue among the kpop community. The track was released with an MV that fits their album wide storyline as a whole! They are shown fighting Red Force clones of themselves which don't share the same superpowers as the members...the only two clones that have similar powers is bad Baekhyun & Chanyeol. Suho - Water (why you don't see him fighting his clone) Baekhyun - Light [Sun] Chen - Lightning Chanyeol - Fire [Phoenix] Kai - Teleportation Sehun - Wind

you totally expressed how I felt while listening to it first time ...nw I am obsessed with this song...no way out ..EXO are kpop kings...

I think in every album Exo tries something new which you love by time. And all of their discography is so amazing I can listen to them for five years now. Especially the side tracks... I made an Exo playlist to share with my grand nephews and nieces. It’s so strange to listen to music written in a language you don’t understand and love it dearly. They are in my daily playlist with Santana, Coldplay, Paul Simon, Pink Floyd. I really wish we had a company like SM and a group like Exo in my country. You must be proud. I’ve read that some Marvel artist is working on Exo mythology... I was expecting a movie or better; a documentary about their “legends from another planet” concept. It is amazing that the story was written before 2012 and still continues. With this album we learned that they have been cloned when the red force kidnapped them and now they are fighting with their fakes. Better story than many Marvels :)

Honestly I also thought the same after the first listen like this song lacked a catchy chorus and I was a bit confused about that. However I loved each section of the song from the get go maybe the distorted vocals not so much but never had a problem with the "I want you" part and once you listen to it a few more times it really is catchy even if it doesn't have a simple chorus you can sing along to.

That is so true. I actually got shocked with the type of sound they went wc is more hip hop. At first i didnt like it but after a few listens you get addicted to it, maybe it was intention? Youll get obsessed with the song, ironically speaking. It works.

Exo is the god of Kpop. They really are so different from everyone else. They're over-talented. They try every concept and others follow Exo. They have no limits on Song. The sound of each one is perfect. They were born to be idols. Although they are not hiphop bands, they produced a thousand times more beautiful song than Hiphop bands. this is Exo, there is no limit. People who call them unsuccessful are just jealous. Although Exo doesn't come out of Korea, it breaks more records than most popular bands all over the world. At first, I didn't appreciate this song because I'm expecting something (the usual EXO)and I find it (sound)so different but as I watched this MV I realize that this the usual EXO that I'm looking for. I forgot that EXO is known for their unique concept and sound. and this also the reason why I stan them...My gosh that deeper concept and vocals.. that is EXO.. That's what made them legendary..

You may try to listen to the song only without watching the music video. It actually makes the song enjoyable right away. And you are right, after listening to it over 5 times it became my favorite EXO title track ever even though I didn't love it in the first place. Mysteriously.

I totally get you guys coz at first I didn't 100% get the vibe but after listening to it the 2nd time I find myself listening/watching it the 3rd time ... i think i have watched it for 12th time now ..

Thank you for the reaction video but there's a story behind the MV based on their previous MV, it's actually a connection that made this "OBSESSION" happen.. they are fighting on their ownselves as bad guy vs good guy.. that's when you're obsessed... for others who knew the story behind they totally appreciate and understand the concept and for the musically inclined individuals or expert the music production, vocal transition and visuals are applauded. I don't know how you guys missed it but... Instrumental :That switch to RnB cords (from your reaction video at 2:30) at 7:18 they become prominent, Vocal wise : when they slowed it down, the chorus is very RnB ( at 2:00 ,5:00, 5:29 for example)..

This is EXO and X-EXO fighting one another. X-EXO is their evil clones, who apparently trapped the real EXO years ago. another theory also has the words being directed against saesangs. A very workable theory if you listen to the actual lyrics. There are soooo many layers to this song and MV. It's freaking brilliant

Hip hop is just not my cup of tea. I'm a sucker for vocals and melodies rather than beat and rapping. I was so so confused when I first listened to Obsession. So i listened it for the 2nd, 3rd,4th and now... I am Obsessed. The I want you part was annoying but then it gets into your head. i kept hearing that part everywhere I go. Overall, it depends on the person itself. It is definitely something new but still have that EXO vibe. As expected from EXO. They never dissapoints.
