the Altezza is meant to compete with BMW 320 (E46). at that era toyota wanted a piece of the cake for that segment
Altezza is kind of the 90's AE86. Same genius who designed it.

The thing is that Dori Dori is very well accustomed to the handling of FR RWD cars in the raining and wet track coming from his AE86 background. You need to be well trained in order to be accustomed to any different dynamics of any car, be it mid engined and rwd or fwd.
I always thought that Integra R would have the advantage on wet surface due to its layout and light weight chasis.
The BEAMS 3SGE Altezza is arguably better than the N/A 2JZ variant. Not as nose heavy and power is comparable. Plus the engine being shorter, the weight balance go towards the center.

Timothy lokotkov To what I know here it was called Lexus IS300 and had a 2JZ-GE and there was slower versions too, and in Japan Altezza was high reving 4cyl usually

Z1RCONIUMx911 Japana had both 4 and 6 cyl. The 4 cyl was cheap so it was more common, the one in the video is a 6cyl.

Z1RCONIUMx911 Lexus exist in japan, idk if they're built there, but you can find a lexus every once in a while, but if we're talking about a lexus is300 in japan idk if that exist. Of course idk a lot about it, cause everything i know about this is from the few weeks i spent up there.
This is new video. Enjoy. By the way the Integra lost because the other cars had fully adjustable suspension installed, whereas the Integra had only a muffler.

+miroshi LOL this was one of the few times a Toyota beat a Honda.I mean the battle back in the late 80's-90's was huge between those 2 manufacturers and Toyota was behind most of the times.Honda's B16 was far superior to both 20v 4AGEs,for instance.I'm a Toyotaku to the bone but I know when I'm beaten.Honda makes awesome cars and they are killers.They just have the wrong layout :P

The integra is also a type R while the mr2 is 3S-GE. A 3S-GTE would have beaten the Integra even more

The problem wid honda is that they focus too much on fwd while toyota is a fwd rwd awd company so u have choices of the drive mode u want

That’s a non-turbo MR2 in the wet. My turbo SW20 in the dry would fucking destroy those cars.

Someone isn't very familiar with the dc2s lift-off and trailing throttle oversteer. Also that Altezza was just soaking up all the bumps.

+Ethanmeister akira was the guy who set the lap times for the LF-A around nürburgring. I dont really think this is a lack of skills from the drivers. Tsuchiya doesnt even need introduction, he even was one of the drivers of the toyota gt-one.

+jnr1989 God, I'm starting to wonder if people even bother to read my comments at all before replying to them. I know who these drivers are and I know very well how good they are. I was just saying, particularly at 1:55 Akira didn't seem all that familiar with the characteristics of the car, that's all.

+jnr1989 many pro drivers are not good with front wheel drive because they race RWD or 4x4 as front wheel drive is worst drivetrain for racing car with 300hp+ so even if he is pro driver that dont nead to mean he know 2 drive FWD

mid engine and low-speed corners don't mix.

I find the pedal placement in German cars to be much closer together than in Japanese cars, making it a bit trickier to heel and toe. But like the Crazy Car Guy said, you just gotta keep practicing.

Use the half foot method. Half your foot for braking the other half for throttle. Practice with it before you use it while braking hard. That's the way I heel-toe.

3:05 is why electronic parking brakes are trash.
if it was dry the itr would have a better chance
and the MR2 wasn't even turbo'd while the Integra had VTEC. Not enough to take out a Toyota.

UnderBridge Rock mr2 sw20 feel more stable at high speed vs aw11. A turbo with correct suspension and good tires is an awesome performance package.

The problem with Altezza was always the leak of power. Problem solved.

+Random Guy Altezza is not a corolla. This two are totally different. Just with the samilar platform code. Corollas' code is E and Altezza is XE.
