    Long live Starcraft Broodwar. I swear its some sort of gift from God. How is it possible for a some computer game to be ever-evolving and rich with history like this. Its a journey of constant discovery and I have enjoyed every moment. Thanks to you both for doing the work to make this available to us in such a professional manner. Y'all have provided me with context, deepening my appreciation of this incredible game. Cheers!

    If I don't post this here, I'll forget. Most differences between SCVs, Probes, and Drones are obvious (e.g. different races, built from different buildings, upgraded from different buildings). Here are the potentially nontrivial differences: 1. SCVs have 60 HP, Drones have 40 HP, and Probes have 20 HP. 2. Drones regenerate 4/256 HP per second up to the max. SCVs and Probes do not regenerate HP. 3. SCVs can be healed by allied Medics and repaired by allied SCVs. Drones can only be healed by allied Medics. Probes cannot be healed. 4. Probes have 20 shields, while SCVs and Drones have 0 shields. Shields regenerate 7/256 per second up to the max and can be regenerated faster by a nearby Shield Battery. 5. SCVs attack with a cooldown of 15 frames (0.63 sec at fastest speed), while Probes and Drones have a cooldown of 22 frames (0.924 sec at fastest speed). 6. SCVs have 10 pixel attack range, while Drones and Probes have 32 pixel attack range (1 matrix). 7. Probes have 8 vision range (256 px), while SCVs and Drones have 7 vision (224 px). 8. Probes are immune to Irradiate damage and to Spawn Broodlings. 9. Drones are immune to Lockdown. 10. Drones can burrow if it is researched. 11. SCVs have 32 seek range, while Drones and Probes have 0 seek range. This means SCVs can auto-acquire targets within a distance of 32 px when idle. EDIT: Added a few more, not sure if they are nontrivial, but whatever.

    JD seems to have that Byun funk. JD looks like his strategies are tilted towards quick wins. Im hoping JD is completely healthy considering before his military he was vocal with having wrist issues and his eyes getting bloodshot faster than he is used to. His greatest strength is his weakness, his crazy dedication to training.

Light , Rain , Best then he gets on stage and overextended or commits to all ins that have already been prepared for. In his post Elimination video he said it was Overconfidence but I think it's the opposite. He needs to have faith in his fundamentals.

    Hey Tastosis, could you maybe explain Calm's role a bit in future casts? He seems extremely influential and Zerg players refer to him all the time in interviews and seem to respect him a loooooot even though he's not a top tier Zerg at this point, I can't remember seeing him play in a long long time actually. Is he like an absolute strategic mastermind who's too slow or has some wrist injury and therefore doesn't compete at top level himself yet coaches the other guys?

  • @phyvo

    @phyvo

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think it really comes down to the scourge usage and handling. Soulkey's scourge always came in later after he pretty cleanly dealt with JD's scourge, or maybe JD's scourge targeting wasn't as good. Meanwhile Soulkey's scourge was always devastating because they would get on top of JD's mutas with Soulkey's in range to moving shot, so JD would get bruised regardless of whether he hit the scourge well. Maybe JD's reactions are slowing, it's hard to say, I would have to re-watch those key moments to try to figure out more about what happened.

    It's complicated. Dissecting the first set; JD was planning to throw his opponent off for the series with a hydra bust, but got himself thrown off by the fairly uncommon vulture/wraith rush. He lost like 2 overlords to the wraith off the bat, which meant a sustained pressure at the front with hydras would not work, at best the hydras could maybe bust the bunker or kill a few SCV's and then fizzle out. And the vultures managed to get into his main later which not only forced the hydras back, but also slowed down the economy. The last fight with the lurkers was not the plan for sure, merely a last hail mary because he had almost no options to transition into a macro game.

    I think Artosis counts the goliaths out too much. When there are a lot of them they hit very hard on their ground attacks and they have good range. The reason why goliaths suck against ground often is when they are attacking air while getting attacked by ground at the same time.. or if there are too few of them.

    If your going defiler and already have lurker tech, why not go into hydras? You got that 3 base like 6 hatch production. You plague the bio and the hydras + lurkers + DS just melt it. Plus the hydras can kill science vessels while ultras cannot. Use this comp to bridge to your 4th abs 5th bases then switch to ultras with full upgrades. The science vessels just seem like such a problem while the bio you as a Zerg have tons of tools to deal with that you only have so many tools against the science vessels most of which are countered by the marines. I also think speed ovies can pick up the defilers before they get irradiated?

    The games up until JyJ went out were amazing, I was honestly hoping he would lose to give use more TvZs, I was kind of rooting for Hero to get out because I think he's the best zerg though both JD and SK are world class players. The problem with that being that the only way for Hero and JyJ to get out is if JyJ goes out first but that means 2 matches of ZvZs and I'm not a big fan of that. At least it's not like a couple tournaments ago when it was 3 zerg in the round of 4 and Mini. The day 4 zerg make it into the Ro4 is the day the game needs a patch.

    What a disgusting group for JyJ. HerO and Soulkey could be contenders any season. Jaedong is Jaedong. Fantastic group to watch. Game 1 is a peach.

    @@dungeonmaster6292 Spoilers: TeRrAn iMbA nErF tErRaN For real tho I figured JD would have a tough time with this group. He played pretty well considering this is his first ASL coming back from the military. It’s just that the competition this season was way too fierce. JyJ is an exciting Terran to watch, just seeing his range of play during this round was really interesting. That 1st winners match on Monopoly was especially interesting, with JyJ going mass goliaths early on to counter JD’s mutas. I almost wonder if JD went mass lings instead of hydras, would he have fared better. And as we all know ZvZ is a knife-fight, so anything goes. Either way, congrats to JyJ and Soulkey. JD will get ‘em next time. All our hopes are now on Bisu to make it through

    @@HamletTwin well said. I agree. Decent showing first time back. It bodes well for his ASL future that he made a legit showing, and flashes of real dominance in there. Super stoked to watch him moving forward

    @@HamletTwin Well, Jd Mutas just werent in time. You could even wonder if he doesnt get supply blocked maybe he has enought mutas to defend the +1 attack push with goliaths. Either way his harrass was maybe to invested, lost a couple of mutas and got his other mutas damaged to much. An other mistake may also be the fact,that Jd didnt really need to build that hatchery there. because it was delayed either way. Though you often goliaths builds with mass vulture trying to harrass while they get their bases, goliath and tank army up. But the first wave of vultures was already defended. So i think we can argue he shouldnt have build the hatch at nat to wall. Maybe JyJ is right in the way that the more often they play vs Mech the easier it gets. I allways hear how bad mech is on the pro level, but than we see so many asl matches and stuff where the zerg just gets beaten easily. Maybe Mech is more of an special build you go for to surprise and take advantage of that it isnt played as much vs. And iam talking more about the goliath build as mech build. I know there many others. It is just crazy, every time we see mech into vultures into any mech 1/1/1,etc. in so many matches Terran gets vultures into the zerg base, you would think that zerg would be able to defend it easily without letting them in. But obviously there is a big trade off for zerg to commit into one defence for a specially build, that would make him weak vs an other, specially when he/she is not sure which special build it is. In that way it seems to me that zerg just risk it and are ok to defend the vulture run by with drones until mutas are out and similar stuff, even when they lose some mining time drones, specially in 2 hatch muta build. Which is kind of crazy when you think about it, Zerg really is crazy at the highest level. It really shows why lower level players cant deal with some build, when they are trying to responde to it like the pros do.

    39:05 why doesnt hero get just 1-4 hydras? They can one shot those plagued vessels instead of spending precious 3 base gas on a lot of scourge
