I'm so glad Gumiho came back he's so fun to watch, and he wins too. I liked that game against Maru where he had a landed viking blowing up depots in Maru's main mineral line under liberator cover at like the 7 minute mark. That's such a Gumiho game 😆

just want to comment, if you are trying to diagnose vsync problems for your browser, IT IS RECORDED VSYNC TEARING on the source side. its subtle but you can see it when they scroll the map vertically

I think the baneling nerf from 3 years ago, combined with the Terran-favored maps, is mainly driving this lineup. Not that it's "easy" as a Terran; Maru and GuMiho 100% deserve their spots, just a thought on why we're seeing this happen this year. And yes, I'm tilted. LOL

I feel so bad for Solar, one game from advancing first to fighting for his life against Maru

So many great Korean players that would own Solar have retired due to the paltry income Korean SC2 players make…he should be in every final (particularly with how erratic Dark’s play has become). If Solar had won or at least advanced to the final, you could make the argument that Solar, Reynor and Serral are top 3 zergs in the world. Solars gonna have to just wait until Maru leaves for military service. Maybe he’ll win then.

I dont think he throw, but he just know how to play 1 mode and its too much of a "hit or miss" for him. If it works than it really works, but it will backfire big time if things arent going well.

I believe he definitely should try to go for more Roach Ravager army in early game. His inability to break Seiged tank position really cost him all those games. Solar weakness at the moment is him being way to predictable with his build order, this always lingbane into Hydra into Lurker/Viper.

I believe that when zerg has to transfer the game off of ling bane, he is already giving up his advantage. However often times it's necessary to remain in the game.

"In Korea Maru knows how to beat Zerg" - very well put Tasty. Outside of Korea, Serral knows how to beat Maru. And does that.

we need new maps desperately. There are like 6 terran-favored ones in which there is such a comical ability to abuse terrain. Those tanks in the 2nd to last game are as good as a maphack. Then you just veto the zerg and protoss favored ones. Never seen a meta so map-driven.

Maru did stim seige tank mav push back in 2018.

I was sipping juice whenever Tasteless said "this is wild". I was out of juice by the first match.

I ladder mostly Zerg, a bit of Protoss. Just want to say that I'm really enjoying this season of GSL, even with the heavy Terran bias. Great stuff, everybody. Really glad this is still happening and I'm excited to see the next Super Tournament.

Well that would only be the case if protoss were OP since over many many games, the advantage of various spawn positions, expansion counts, terrain and expansion locations should be equalized. Unless one race is just generally stronger, all things map-related being held equal. That said, I’d imagine a procedurally generated map would not play well unless heavily limited by a logical ruleset. Imagine spawning in your opponent’s natural.

@@folieadeux147 There would obviously be tournament balance rule sets to the procedural generation, including a mandatory minimum distance between mains. You're maybe missing the main point with your talk about map balance features. The reason that procedural generation would inherently benefit Protoss regardless of what map features actually ended up being generated is due to proxy locations. Finding a proxied Protoss building would become less certain - this one feature is inherently better for Protoss in their match-ups than for either other race. Not sure how significant it would be, of course... and it would only benefit cheesy/high risk play. /shrug

It surprises me that Gumiho is so often slept on even by the casters who should know by now his very personal style of SC2 is a real problem. He was untouchable around the time he won his GSL and when in shape he can beat anyone.

i think, only serral is able to win these games vs top-terran. His infestor control does the little difference

Starting to really hate this map pool there are way to many maps with multiple spots where Terran can put tanks and get high ground vision with medivacs while being almost completely safe and unpunishable because they are so pigeon holed away you need a very good sized army advantage to shut it down and even then it is almost always an unfavorable trade. I get having a couple maps with elements like that cause hey there are always going to be maps that favor certain races more than others but this map pool just has an excess of those extremely exploitable siege positions. Game 1 of the final series was a very good example of this people say oh Maru just outclassed and outplayed Solar while that may be true in a certain sense that extremely favorable siege position certainly lends to the optic that Maru just crushed Solar, but it wasn't mechanics or mental play that made up for the majority of that impression it was a cheeky spot that can be easily exploited by marine/tank/medivac that won Maru the game and that shouldn't more often than not be the defining factor for the outcome.
