EnergyFit Ski-Row Review: 2-in-1 SKI-ROWER Machine Review (Concept 2 Killer?)

Спорт

🚣 Concept2 RowErg: www.garagegymreviews.com/go/c...
⛷ Concept2 SkiErg: garagegymreviews.co/C2SkiErg
This is Coop's review of the EnergyFit Ski-Row. The Ski-Row is a unique piece of equipment that combines a rower and ski-erg into one unit. It seems designed to compete against the Concept 2 SkiErg and Concept 2 Model D Rower.
After using it for a couple of months, we feel it's a novel idea that hits the mark in some areas and misses in others. If you want a combination unit due to the space it saves, this is possibly a good option, however, it wouldn't save a tremendous amount of space. It also won't save a lot of money versus buying Concept 2 units.

Super happy you did this review. I've been scoping this thing out for months for the exact same reasons you said: space savings and unavailability of the concept 2 stuff. Really glad you put this out bc i was close to pulling the trigger but I think I'll wait for the C2 stuff to come back. Thanks for always being so unbiased and honest.

One year after you wrote this, how do you like both C2 pieces? I'm a cyclist & already have a Wahoo Kickr for indoor/Winter training. Do you prefer one machine over the other, and if so, why? I think I would pick up the rower first & maybe add a skierg later?

@@JosephDowski so it depends on your preference. I too chose the rower first and I believe it’s the right choice for me. The skierg is intense. I love it for intervals. I love the rower for endurance training and longer pieces. I also have purchased a c2 bike which I love. But in order for me. I purchased them in this order, rower, rogue echo bike, skierg, bikerg. And I would do it again in that order.

I think it’s important to point out that the Concept 2 is a true ergometer that accurately measures power by monitoring deceleration of the flywheel. It will automatically adjust for any difference in conditions such as altitude, dust collected on the fan, etc. This is why they can be used in competitions. This ski row thingamajig can’t even pretend to do the same.

I don’t think they have told us enough to understand the measurement integrity of this new product. If calibrated it should be able to match the Concept2. I don’t remember the name now, but we used to have a couple of ergs with sliding feet when I towed crew…the Concept2 was the cheaper product which we could have 20 guys using at once. I would definitely consider using a Ski Row as a space saving device…the maintenance is the consideration I would give most thought to.

@Ryan-da-Beast nice. I went a the RM 4 and some boneyard bars but similar setup. Rep makes the best benches. I'm a Rogue fanboy but their benches miss on the value equation big time. Building a home setup was the best idea ever. Hitting bigger numbers than most 40 year olds. 548kg total is more than respectable.

Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this kzread.infoUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !

It needs a substantial price cut, in my opinion. Looks decent enough, but no way I'd buy it over Concept 2 when they're the same price

It’s actually commercial grade quality. The magnetic resistance is quirky/ difficult to engage and the monitor is supposedly highly inaccurate re: distance and calories burned. But if they work out these kinks then it will be a game changer. A local fitness dealer had a floor model in their showroom, which I tested before purchasing. I opted for the air only model. Is it Concept 2 quality? No. But it’s not far from it. I went ahead and purchased for my garage gym. Concept 2 doesn’t have any inventory. Unless you want to purchase used equipment from a price gouging third party with no warranty. I didn’t want to wait for the next production run as gym equipment prices are about to skyrocket. Coop and the CrossFit crowd are snobs when it comes to equipment. Granted, I’m a middle aged female but this machine is very sturdy and suits my needs.

concept 2 rower any day that ends in a Y. Nice concept for the combo unit but appeared to have way too much instability at the top of the ski movement. That machine was moving a lot. I see a lot of breakage.

Nothing will be a Concept 2 killer as long as Crossfit uses it as their standard. A rower or skier could be hands down better in everyway, but if it can't break into Crossfit the Concept 2 will still have that large portion of the market.
