I love how Justice's outfits represent how she feels. At the beginning she wears yellow cause she's happy. She wears black cause she's in mourning and the blue shirt for most of the movie because she's sad. Then at the end of the movie she's wearing white because she's whole again.

I don’t think if anyone’s pretty observant of this film, but I noticed that while Chicago and Iesha were linked romantically, Lucky and Justice had a mutual dislike for each other and when the pair started getting along, growing closer in the process, both Chicago and Iesha started growing further and further apart.

Janet really shows off her acting skills in this movie, and I sometimes wonder why she didn’t get the chance to lead more films. She is a music icon today, but some people forget that she started her acting career years before she recorded her first album (who remembers Penny from “Good Times”?). She has accomplished so much as an artist/entertainer, but I believe her biggest accomplishment is overcoming the challenges of being the kid sister of the biggest pop star on the planet, coming from a famous music family, and still managing to build her own separate, successful career with her own identity.

I know people would come for me for saying this, but it’s genuinely hard for me to feel bad for Iesha, judging by the way she was tearing into Chicago to the point where she was even went as far as to emasculated him. Jessie is one of my favorite characters in the film. She was on point about Justice making bad choices in men and gave pretty good advice even though it was unsolicited advice. As cute as Lucky is, he's got a lot of baggage that I personally wouldn't want to deal with in a partner. The ending of the movie is cute, but I can only imagine the drama that Justice would have to deal with getting involved with Lucky after the credits rolled.

Poetic Justice is that film that I can watch repeatedly. Love the 90's tone, the vibe, poems, and fashion. It's became a comfort movie. I kind of question if Lucky and Justice could have been friends rather than more. The way Lucky called her out of her name, wasn't feeling it. I don't think it's possible to have two lead characters just be friends (it wasn't really done like that back then).

I took for me as an adult, years later to finally catch on. And until watching your review, Iesha was running game too, but Jessie was doing old school game and Iesha was new school. That’s why she got screwed at the end and Jessie got a salon, driving a Lexus and etc.

Ladies this is not the type of man you want to be with 😅 the movie just played it off like this is okay…

I may have commented before on how much I love this movie. I’m watching it right now and I don’t think anyone in this movie realized how traumatized Justice was. She witnessed her boyfriend being unalived and her mother was an alcoholic. She may have had some type of depression & exhaustion from all the unalive-ings around her. Her friends mean well but urging her to get w/ a man to get over her loss wasn’t gonna help her through her grief. They should’ve just let her have her moments and let her process it. I have witness a recent loss of loved ones over the past year and this hit me deep

In all respect to the icon Janet Jackson , she really struggled saying the curse words the venom the pissed off vibes of Justice - I think she should have been recast- and where me out Jada Pinkett -she would have been so believable in that role she played that Type of character on Different world. Janet just was struggling . She’s beautiful in the movie her look is iconic and she montage scene is lovely but she is struggling maybe it was on John Singleton why she didn’t come across as believable it’s on a good director to support you and maybe he was in awe of an icon but I say Jada would have killed this part . Or Queen Latifah.

    - To this day, I'll make a quip about the Snooty Fox Motor Inn...tell me why I didn't know that was a real place until I was grown! - Can we talk about how Janet did 90% of this film with those ratty-ass braids? "Girl, gimme my hat back - I got new growth!" That's dedication right there. - "I'M IN THE UNION!" takes me out every time. - I'd like to think that L&J would have stayed together. We see how Justice is with kids (despite her saying she didn't want any), and I could see her being a great stepmother. Lucky had a government job and was a good father, so he had his head on straight. I could see them getting married in time and starting a family. They'd be that old L.A. couple that the neighborhood respects.
