I find the music of the prequels much more mature (this isn't to diminish the sequel music, because they're also amazing). It's not surprising though, John Williams had obviously improved a lot between VI and I.

liteoner I still rank the OT soundtrack above the PT's b/c they have more than one iconic theme each. The most iconic tracks in the prequels are Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, and Battle of the Heroes. While ANH alone already has the Main Title, The Throne Room, Cantina Band, and Princess Leia's theme. I think JW peaked in the 80s & 90s. I find his music for Hook way more magical than the first three Harry Potter scores, which are still brilliant.

jp3813 One iconic theme each? Ep.III alone has Anakin's Betrayal, Anakin's Dark Deeds, Battle of The Heroes, Battle Over Corsuscant, Greivous' theme, Padme's Destiny, etc. Then there are the unreleased themes - Padme's Funeral, I Am The Senate, and Anakin vs Obi-Wan (alternate Battle of The Heroes theme), just off the top of my head. Oh, and how could i ever forget about The Immolation Scene.

Honestly if that’s True that blows my mind! The Music in Episode III is one of THE Best scores in movie cinematic history and Is a Trillion times Better than the sequels! No disrespect to John Williams but maybe because of his age his scores for the Sequels didn’t seem special at all whereas back in 2005 The Revenge of the Sith John Williams was just at his very Peak!

@@tsurugi5 there are some good individual themes in the sequels. Rey has a pretty theme and kylo is also good. The piece at the end of the force awakens is also original and beautiful. And there are some other new original pieces that are beautiful. It’s not as memorable as the prequels and original but it’s not bad at all.

The Maestro of the Saga. His contributions to all nine films and then some really are the backbone of this franchise. Episode III is probably the best example of the darker side of Williams and how it plays into the score, drawing out the drama and tragedy the screen is wanting you feel.

Probably J.J and Rian Johnson didn't exploit all the potential J. Williams has to offer. For me, George always knew how to handle the genius of John, and that is sad for sequels. By the way, I can't forget that atrocity on the "Princess Leia's Theme" in episode VIII, oh that scene, f**k you, Rian.

I love the bit at 7:34 with all the different shots cut together as the notes rise. Short but satisfying montage. I also love the little cut to John doing the mini boogie as he rocks out to that little eighth note bridge at 7:14-7:15, and that sort of squat and upflourish with his fingers during the Sforzando at 7:22. And at 7:52 when he like ushers in the violins to finish off the leitmotif at the absolute climax of the piece, kinda like “alright your turn finish us off boys” *swoosh* 😂 Much props to the video editors of the Battle of the Heroes music video.
