But today in the age of KZread, when everything is available online, also Indians have bigger platforms to speak about our side of the story, I've noticed citizens of UK today still try to defend their history almost denying India's side of the story - denial or maybe colonial hangover!

England developed India? Yes they introduced railways, postal services and other means to connect India but it was done purely for their convenience of trading. They need roads and transportation facilities to get the goods to the ports for exporting them to England. It might have benefited Indians but the economic damage they have done outweighs the development they did in here. India back was popular for its handicrafts industries which couldn't stand to compete with cheap machine-made goods from England. They reduced India into an exporter of raw materials and an importer of cheap goods. This is famously called the “wealth drain theory”! They commercialised Indian agricultural which lead to an acute food shortage and 1000s of people dying from hunger. Also, don't kid yourself to say democracy was introduced in India cause of the British. The founding fathers of the Indian constitution were very clear right from the beginning on being a democratic country with universal suffrage. Even illiterates, backward classes and also women were given voting rights when India became independent and constitution came into existence. While most of the western countries like UK, US denied voting rights to women for centuries even though they called themselves a “democracy”! We are still a democracy despite being such a huge country with vast diversity. And yes India plays cricket and has beaten England at their own game plenty of times. India is still a part of the commonwealth our leaders back then made sure that the relationship between the two countries doesn't end on a bitter note. Yes, it's 75 years since our independence and it makes no sense for us to still play the blame game. But don't casually say things without complete awareness. Colonialism isn't a good thing it's all about capitalism, exploitation, discrimination and captivity. I believe Koreans know this better than us!

You're just like those annoying nationalistic Chinese netizens; I could understand their haughtiness given their position in power, but India... you still have a long way to go and you can't do it alone.
