It's not important to disable steppers. They are there to be used. Telling people that they will wear out is completely ignorant. If you're worried they will wear out then just let your printer sit in the corner and never use it. I'm pretty sure the steppers are on a timer and they auto shutoff anyways.

@@markjones2349 I always disable the steppers just for one simple reason: it's much easier to slide the x and y axis manually without the resistance.

I noticed your bed is wobbly while you were trying to level it. Try going under the bed and adjust the eccentric screws to tighten it slightly from wobbling. This will make the levelling easier and consistent.

Great video. I'm working on an Ender 3 Pro for a friend of mine who couldn't get it working correctly. He didn't read the instructions very well... lol... Anyhow - Another tip on leveling the bed using the method above, on your card stock, take the time to measure the distance from the edge of the bed to the leveling screw (both directions). Then put a small circle so that when you are lining up the nozzle with the calbration point, use the card stock to insure the nozzle is directly above the leveling crew. This way all pivits of the bed will be centered on leveling screw points. If you do this, when you adjust the other corners, it won't impact (as much) the points you've already leveled. Takes less time and makes the process much easier... Thanks again for the video...

My disable steppers button doesn't seem to working properly. When I select it nothing happens in the menu and I'm not able to move anything around. Any suggestions?

Hi. It normally doesnt do much but beep i think, but you should be able to move things around afterwards. If thats not the case, it could be an issue with the firmware. You could do everything manually with the power off.

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. Heating the bed first may make a little difference, but I don’t think it's required, it definitely wont hurt though. I say that because the expansion will be minimal.

When you click disable steppers on the screen besides from the sound of the know being pressed in is there and other sound it makes to let you know the steppers have been disabled. Also after you disable the steppers will that allow you to move the bed and the extruder around smoothly like in the video you should.

Hi. No it doesn’t give you any indication that you actually clicked on it, not sure why they did it like that. Yes, after the steppers are disabled, you should be able to freely move both the x and y axis.

An absolutely vital skill to have. Even if you've installed a BL touch auto sensor. Thanks for the refresher video.

just a FYI stepper motors can produce electricity its best to either move anything connected to the motor slowly! or my favorite is to it take 2 minutes and pop the connection right off the motor to protect the mother board from any power surging

Thanks! I have always used card stock with no problems. I guess one thing that could impact the height would be the amount of scrape you tend to use when leveling the bed. If you let the extruder tip just slide over it and not touch then I can see that making a difference. I tend to lower the tip until I get a little resistance.

I have a question first I want to say thank you I was trying to compile my own Marlin software and got confused but you had it on your website so I got it from there so thank you but I have a question about bad mesh leveling do you have that software compiled already also would be nice if you have that I'm willing to try it out and see how it works having some trouble printing sometimes again thank you for the software you compiled before with the Marlin update

Easy guide for ender 3 pro bed leveling. I could get a leveled bed in only one try after watching this video. I wasted my full 1 day trying to level my bed by watching other videos. You can also level the bed using the Creality pamphlet you get with the printer. Thankyou

Hi, I start leveling about 1-2 inches in from the corners.

This happened to me last night. I just finished building the printer, wanted to try my first print. I have the glass surface. I didn't know to start fully tight or loosened all the way. (First mistake). So I took the glass off and tried to level but the zstop wouldn't allow the nozel low enough (remember I took the glass off) a Facebook group said to cut the knob off the z stop sensor (new headaches frustrations) played with z stop sensor, auto homed and got the nozel to clear the bed if the ztravle was 1mm above auto home Adjusted all 4 corners tried to go through the process a second time and the nozel ripped through the paper and dug into the print surface. Frustrated, I gave up. I am just about threw the printer in a large dumpster.

Hi. Sorry to hear that. Leveling can be a pain. I typically go through the first round or two without the printer being on (so manually moving everything), this allows me to get things close enough so that when the drivers go to move between points it wont hit the bed. From there, i heat the bed up and do a final round.

Quick question , I have ender 3 pro . Running petg. Stick SD card prints run beautifully . Like super smooth great prints . But I’m having trouble with loaded prints sticking to the bed . First layer gets all pulled up and off then it’s downhill from there . Please help ! Tried all sorts of temps and skirts compared to brims .

@@3DPrintscape update ; after a hour of leveling and 4 failed bases . I have successfully found the perfect setting for overture petg on the 3 pro . ( still have glass creality plate and Fr touch on the way ty for the install video btw ) 245 for extruder - 105 for bed . Perfectly level and the base is coming out flawless . It’s beautiful I could shed a tear of joy . Anyways thank you .

@@JstSurf Ah ok, ya it should be .1mm (sorry about that). Just use a sheet of printer paper between the build plate and nozzle and get it to a point that it barely scrapes the nozzle.

Hi. Ya, it can get annoying sometimes. Its more of an art than science.

I leveled it using a card stock 1mm thick and checked every corner 5 times. However the 1mm thick card was not enough, the extruder fucked up the plate, leaving dents. DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS GUY. For your first run, be safe and add extra space. Its better to have a gap and readjust afterwards, instead of messing up your plate.

Hi. Sorry to hear you are having issues with leveling your build plate. The card start is technically on the thick side, the standard recommendation is a sheet of A4 printer paper. If you go with anything thinker, you will end up having to repeat the process because the filament wont stick to the bed.
