I forget who said it, either Luke or Ashton, but they said this song is sort of a perfect embodiment of the band's sound and I think that's so accurate. You should really listen to Ashton's track by track breakdown of CALM, he did it on IG Live but people have since posted it to KZread, it's super informative about their writing process and the band's collective headspace while putting it together and thoughts on music overall.

Honestly one of my favorite songs of all time. Whenever I listen to it, it's like I'm listening to it for the first time because I always find something new to make me love this song even more.

Lover Of Mine is an instrumental and lyrical masterpiece, which is why it's my favorite song off of CALM and one of my all time favorite 5SOS song! It's so powerful: The drums coming in plus the bass, absolutely beautiful moment! Then the synth on top: This song really is a perfect example of what 5SOS can do. I don't know if you caught up on this because you didn't mention it but Calum doing those beautiful backing vocals on that second verse and the last chorus gives me chills, as I'm already in my feels because of Luke's insane vocals, but adding Calum just made this song absolute perfection.
