I am so glad you are still here! My husband died one month ago. He would hear your music and ask, "Petherick's?", I would say yes and give him a run down of what you were doing. He was so impressed with the organ renovation. He is the reason we live in an 1887 railroad depot filled with antiques. I miss him so much and would have hated to have lost your channel, something that I enjoy and shared with him.

I don’t know what the heck happened in the comment section of whatever video, but I literally teared up for you in this video. This feeling of complete defeat from utter strangers wanting something that don’t deserve, is disgusting and heartbreaking. Billy, you owe the internet absolutely NOTHING. Anyone that disagrees isn’t here for you and what you’re doing and what you stand for. The amount that you’re spending on the LOCAL ECONOMY is incredible and says more about you than anything those strangers can suggest or insinuate. You’re single handedly contributing to local artisans and their livelyhood, in the EXACT way original Cheateau owners would do. I agree and don’t really like to hear costs, but I’m not hoping to do a project like this. Plus he gave us all the prices at once. In the future it will be more spaced out. Here in the US, people can pay $60,000 to $100,000 for a residential kitchen remodel,so Billy didn’t do too badly considering this will be a convent showpiece and gathering spot. I wish Billy wouldn’t feel the need to defend himself. He seems to have great reno and design instincts. Plus he actually asks for our opinion when he wants it.

I personally enjoy the convent videos. A woodworker myself for 40 years and have flipped a few homes I remodeled, I find the how and why of your remodel interesting and informative. Simon seems to be especially knowledgeable. Don’t know why people would obsess about your past, who cares. Has nothing to do with your content. I say “crack on”, I know it’s difficult at times but you appear to surround yourself with fine people. Thank you for the videos.

Agreed, I actually don't want to know the prices of things. It's their money and they can spend it how they like. It's not my business. I enjoy the beauty of what they do. I personally think some blocking of people who think Billy and his family have to explain everything to them because they demand it should happen. I wouldn't want people asking me questions like that, so I won't be asking people questions like that of others. Asking questions like that is more telling of the person asking than it is anything else. Billy.... don't let them bully you. Just block them. Don't let them put a damper on the amazing person you are. They would have you believe they are perfect, but they aren't. And the more you concede, the less you will enjoy what you are doing. I started watching when you were fixing the tiles on the chateau roof. I was hooked. It is refreshing in this Era of snarkiness to have positive entertainment. My husband has done construction in Alaska (now retired), so I have found it interesting to see how things are done in France, both old and new.

The internet can be a wicked place. Hateful people hide behind its anonymity to spread their personal miseries. We should pity them and their sad lives. Billy, your personal matters are your own. What I have seen by watching your videos is the respect and care you have shown the people you work with, your family, your friends and the convent. So sod them! Stand tall keep your head up and crack on. I am sorry for the sounds of distress and unsettleness I hear in your voice. I know where that has come from for me when I have sounded like that. So Billy rejoice in those who believe and respect you. You are worth it.

I once read an interview with Johnny Rotten, in which he was asked about his critics. He said "empty vessels make the loudest noise". A reference alluding to musical instruments and humans. I love watching you and your friends because of the care and respect you give to things that have survived time and the fact that you actually restore them, not “renovate” them. You didn’t take the island and paint it some fashionable color to fit a modern esthetic, you took the time to bring it back to its former glory. You took a dusty, forgotten collection of metal and crystals and returned it to a glorious piece art as it should be. I don’t care what you paid for things, you recognize the value and honor the piece. Crack on and know that their are many of us that respect and admire you and your work.

For your own sanity I would say that you have every right to keep private things private. You provide a service and this is a business. I wouldn’t think of asking the price of the ingredients in my favorite bakery or for their recipes. It’s a joy to watch your team work and bring back a property that I would in no way attempt to tackle. I love your intellect at problem solving. Well it is a public media channel that the renovations to the Chateau videos are shown on, it has a comment section and people can ask about the cost of the project, they might be thinking of undertaking something similar or such like, he is not obliged to say but it is "helpful". The only thing we are "entitled" to ask about are the renovations as the channel is about that, his private life is private, I can imagine what the decade ago incident is but that has been resolved, we all make mistakes, however a majority of people are enjoying this channel for being able to follow the journey of the renovation work, and the viewers partially help to degrees of interaction with how the project is funded and again I would imagine that is supported by the majority, so please continue and don't complain and don't explain, except about the renovations!?!

I honestly don’t think Billy was extravagant because the kitchen is the heart of the convent. It’s where the people will meet up, Gwen can do her zooms and there and have her meetups there too. For charity events or cooking shows. I do believe the kitchen will pay for itself. It might take a while but not that long. Billy is not an extravagant spender. His only weakness are the Brocantes tempting him with copper. Finally, Billy is farsighted. He has a plan and he’s going to see it through. Love it. .

Watching all the work has made me appreciate what it must have been like to construct this structure in the first place. Peeling back a wall and finding the old nails? The tour through the old garden and figuring out what sort of trees were there. How cool is that? If you can afford what you are doing great its your investment. I am an artist stuck working in big box retail but I buy the best materials I can afford because quality matters. I started watching last year when I was out on medical leave while doing cancer treatments. Watching you all work and the daily process i think helped me look forward when I didn’t have the strength to work myself. Crack On.

Love the channel love the restorations, price of fittings is interesting but not necessary to me. Your past is yours and, well, it's the past. As we grow we mature and, if, what we all did as our younger selves was held against us all the time, we would never get anywhere. We are what we are today and that is what it is, lol my hubbie hates that saying but I use it anyway. What you have done with the convent is amazing and you have been generous enough to share the process with your viewing audience, I thank you for many hours of viewing pleasure and am grateful for all that you share.🤗👍❤️🇦🇺

I'm glad you're back. I've missed the videos. It makes me sad that people are so nosy about how much money you spend. I just want you to know, I enjoy watching all the progress of the Renovation you have done on the convent.

This is devastating that he felt the need to do this. 😢

I have yet to watch any type of YT video that doesn't have its share of miserable people who want to destroy the hard work of those who post wonderful and fulfilling projects like yours. These individuals are small and insignificant and only feel powerful when sitting at a computer and using anonymity to take swipes at people they'd probably cower in front of if they met them in person. Please ignore them, because your vids are a great source of satisfaction for those of us who love seeing the old and neglected buildings in our world lovingly restored and given new life. Here in America that lovely old convent would have been razed to make way for more McDonald's and nail salons. Thank you for loving and preserving the past!

The kitchen is gorgeous, I love how you make drab and ugly into an amazing space filled with character and beauty. I can't believe how awesome it turned out when you think back to how it looked, your vision for decorating and renovating is awesome. This is a unique project and I am enjoying watching you transform the convent. Not many people would be able to achieve what you have and I am really looking forward to the library coming to life. If we all took a leaf out of your book the world would be a better place.

I can't believe people focus on cost so much. The fact is, you are doing it and doing it well. Common sense says you would do your best to cut costs where you could, without giving up integrity or quality. People need to focus on the work... And it is amazing 😍🤩

Who you are today is more important than who you were 10 years ago.... We all do stupid sh*t when we are young, it is all part of growing. I was surprised the kitchen was 200K, if you had said 300K I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. Quality costs and everything that has been put into that reno is of the highest quality.

Honestly, I found what he was referring to. I also found that he took care of it in the end. That's all that matters today. If you were young and dumb years ago, that doesn't mean you can't grow up and make different decisions later, Billy has.

You don't need to tell us how much things have cost you, we just enjoy watching a fantastic transformation taking place. It cost a lot more than our kitchen but then it's HUGE!

Billy, Your renovation is so fun to watch. Nobody should care what you spent. That is completely your business. I love watching and can't wait to see what you do with the property when you finish. I think the possibilities are endless. It could be a great boon to the town the convent is in. Much better than a derelict old haunted building! Renovations cost money. That is the reality!

Billy, I am totally shocked by the costs you've incurred....because the total is way below what I thought looking at the original room to the exquisite room it has become ! Excellent budgeting and planning.... besides paying all of your workers, pouring money into the economy. Brilliant! At the same time, letting us follow along and watch the transformation of historical buildings and learning about architecture and the trades. How often do we see someone actually plastering walls? Most of us in the States, put up plasterboard, tape the joints, put in corners, plaster/sand the joints/corners only.....then we paint. I had never seen the process of full wall plastering. Simon is an artist.

Billy, I’m so sad that someone “out there” has caused this hurt for you. They’re out there, but to chastise you is unthinkable. I never read the piece and so glad I didn’t. Your channel is my favorite and you, especially, and your family and all friends have me hooked on it. I’m so sad and angry that this was brought upon you by some lowlife with no moral compass!
