End of an Era | SD50s on the Buffalo & Pittsburgh

One of the coolest things (in my opinion) about the Buffalo & Pittsburgh was their all-EMD locomotive roster, including the Spartan SD40s and SD50-3s! To see these old kings of the mainlines still earning their keep power the G&W subsidiary's road trains was always a treat! However, for reasons unknown to me, the B&P has recently made the decision to do away with all six-axle EMDs, and as of this video upload, all three SD50-3s have been transferred to the Maryland Midland Railway. In this video compilation, we take a look over the past few years as each of the three ex-Conrail Special Duty EMDs lead B&P's southbound manifest SIRI through Southern New York and Northern Pennsylvania, a sight that sadly won't ever be seen again.

You're more than welcome to come visit them. I kind of noticed there was more than one recently. They still have the B&P livery too. Midland Maryland has the same paint scheme I suppose because they are in the G&W family. Btw, the original station in Union Bridge where their yard is, has a fabulous museum. They run on old Western Maryland RR track. Lots of history on that trackage. Might make a fun fall road trip.

Sounds like I might have to make a trip there with all that history! And yep, with both the B&P and Maryland Midland being G&W subsidiaries, they get the corporate orange paint scheme. Enjoy those 50s!

Yeah, unfortunately. These Spartan cab EMDs were really the main reason I would film the B&P. Now I guess I won't be taking many trips down there anymore.
I think they were moved to MMID due to the extreme amount of power moving from MMID to BERX
I look at the positive. At least the Buffalo and Pittsburgh has good business and is in no danger of becoming a hiking/biking trail.
