I made it 7 days in the hospital after 50 + yrs. of smoking, Dumbass me, I wasn't in the car more than 2 min. after being released I lit up. The reason I was there so long. I had my esophagus removed due to pre cancer cells. Talk about letting myself down. Total failure. I was always an over achiever and the go to man. I let myself and everyone around me down. I have been in the hosp. many times for unrelated things for a few days at a time. Again, it was easy not having any in a controlled environment, why am I so weak on my own? I'm 67, up until I turned 64 have been blessed with great health. I recovered from some things very quickly. But I wonder how many do overs I have left. I sit and wonder, what is the point now. I have out lived many family members and friends, I am an only child with no kids of my own. My mother is the only family left. The blood line stops with me. She is 84. She and my wife are the only thing keeping me going. I don't want either to have to bury me, and mom will truly be alone. But my quality of life isn't much good after that big surgery, I never did recover well from it. No one can figure out what went wrong. Thanks for reading this long rant if you did. I can only hope I touched on a few points others wonder if they are the only ones going thru it. God bless everyone.

I am one week nicotine free today, the weed is a bit harder so far but already wayWAY less that last week, all mostly since im watching your youtube ^. ^ Im still an addict and im sure ill go up n down, but at least im trying. I'm on the end of day four. Just about to relapse, I'm watching videos to distract myself and I feel like I can't do it. I put a lot into the decision of quitting nicotine, but currently my brain is telling me that quitting is pointless, that cigarettes give such a nice feeling that health problems don't matter as much. And I am beginning to believe it, which is fucking scary. I really hope that I'll make it, that cravings will stop at some point. Wishing luck to everyone suffering from any addiction too. We'll make it.

If you haven't already try reading The Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Allen Carr. The problem maybe is that you haven't overcome the brainwashing that the addiction has inflicted on you. Smoking in itself doesn't actually feel nice, what feels nice is relieving the nicotine withdrawal that you were suffering from. And what causes that withdrawal is nicotine itself!

One of the biggest realizations I had which is also true for porn addiction is that: You only feel relief because the absence of the stimulus the addiction created. A great analogy I heard was it's like wearing super tight shoes all day then taking them off at the end of the day, your relief is an illusion because it was the tight shoes that even created a stressful situation that demanded relief. The only reason smoking makes you feel relaxed is because it lowered your bassline for relaxation/patience/focus/enjoyment, giving into the illusion every time you used. When you start to quit you feel the same mechanism pushing against you like a funnel, trying to get you to sink back in, but what you find is that overtime the incline of the funnel gradually rises until the floor is where it was originally. That feeling of always needing something goes away, and you feel at peace with the moment, ending the cycle of slow gradual discontent that plagues every day of an addict.

I have been smoking for just over a decade now. I quit cigarettes about a month now, and I'm on day 5 of quitting Marijuana. As a result, I'm experiencing severe smoker's flu. I'm making use of home remedies to help my lungs flush out excessive mucus and also took up jogging, which really helps with those annoying morning congestion. Word of advis: You've got this famo. Try imaging who you'd become in the near and far future if you kick the habit and do the same if you continue it. Whether it be physical appearance or health benefits or the betterment of your loved ones, find a reason that matters to you that encourages you to quit. I'm certain I ain't ever lifting a cigarette to my mouth, or any other form of smoking for that matter. Stay healthy

Took me long enough than original said on attempt again, im 7 days in clean. No crutches. 8th hour on the first day was the most intense/peak this time around. Really don’t want to waste my time pouring these hours, days .. weeks down the drain with a relapse. 3 months to make it at and I won’t try moderate again. Not for me personally. I’ve been obsessing with my health and a new hobby, big help.. also playing a pretend game with myself where I try to pretend as hard as I can that nicotine and weed doesn’t exist.. (nicotine being the lead siren of the two)… really focusing else where on other things. & reminding myself when intense cravings along with the mind demons of false prophecy declaring that I won’t be satisfied in the future without allowing myself that high… it’s a load of rubbish. I’ve been peak happy sober.. without any substances before, as a child… also … no matter how convincing the intensity seems… it will pass upon persistence to ignore it. Keeping my guards up at any time necessary

For me there have been two things that helped me. One was, quitting drinking cofee. I found that even after 20 years smoking, i could not stand the taste of cigarettes without cofee. Anither one was eating sunflower seeds. They took care of the physical habit of “bringing something to my mouth with my hand”. And sunflower seeds make cigarettes taste even worse. Also, having someone to help you quit helps a lot. Having someone to hold you accountable when you fail and praise your milestones trought the quitting process. Also, its easier to lie to ourselves, but when you have someone that you are “letting down” when you become weak and fall to the cravings is a big help. If you have said someone in your life, have them secretly record you smoking, and watch the video. At least for me, i was so embarrassed watching myself smoke that it was one of the main things that got me tru. I’ll be honest tho, after 22 years in the military(smoking) and dealing with severe PTSD, i’ll have to admit that smoking got me tru. Instead of consuming the cocktail of narcotics that the VA wanted me to take, i just smoked. And it wasn’t the nicotine what fot me tru. But the fact that smoking was giving me that “me time”. Were i would meditate and think and work tru problems. There are better and healthier ways to accomplish this tho. But the point is, you have to study your behavior in an objective and neutral way (easier eaid then done, and having a partner really helps), and figure out why you actually smoke, and attack/change that behavior.

Hi, I just wanted to share my thing. I quit smoking for 5 years without any problem. Then, a year ago, after some issues with some medications I started using for IBS, I started using again because otherwise I wasn’t able to go the bathroom after I eat in the morning. (I have OCD and this is a big big trigger for me). I tried to quit in these days, and I couldn’t go… then after like two puffs I had to go… The thing really demoralized me cause right now I see the cigarette as a helper (like you say in the second point of the video). I tried to do the “I’ll smoke only that one in the morning”, and of course I ended up smoking the other 4/6 during the day! Here it is… anybody?

Ha, I was out of smokes at war for over 9 months. Still had nicotine fits. Worse, my ADHD comes in full force makes it super hard to concentrate and that never goes away. Docs will prescribe me Adderall but trading one addiction for a worse one does not sound good to me.

To be honest the best way to stop smoking is to meditate and think of the times you got high and believe you are in that moment. You will not want to smoke again.

Cranberry sauce for the 72hrs. Quite honestly we over complicate everything, quitting smoking isn't particularly difficult you have to learn to enjoy the suffering for a few weeks, each time you get through a pang it's another step forward and it doesn't take that long. If they are inhaling the smoke more deepy. Or the brand is stronger or smoking is just worse for that person. Then smoking 15 a day might not be any safer then 20 cigarettes a day. And them reasons could be why they are not smoking 20 cigarettes a day

Tobacco is an herb with medicinal properties. The Indians, recognizing the medicinal value of tobacco, used it for centuries, before cigarettes appeared in 1850. It's an antidote to Malaria, and an appetite supressant.

Mouth tape? That sounds like something suspicious in a sense that sometimes your nose can get stuffy from all kinds of reactions. Then it will restrict your breathing and I don't see how that would be in any way beneficial. I think the reason we can breathe through our mouth in the first place is to have a backup way to actually breathe. But the nosebreathing topic itself is super interesting nevertheless, since I've had problems with my nose being congested from what appears to be - consuming dairy.
