Think the Skipper helming so well in those conditions probably deserved a bit more coverage! But still, great video. Well made and a bit different.

The greatest danger is probably getting hit by something hard..boom, jib clew etc. Crash helmets should be worn / obligatory in those conditions. You had a big crew…almost too crowded?

It was very random in watching his video to see Jaffa on the helm. Had the pleasure of working with him 15 or so years ago. Thank you for the video. We got to cowes and then were cancelled in the multihull category.

This is so well-filmed and edited. I also got several things from it: 1) Did you maybe have too many guys on board? 2) Don't leave winch handles in the coffee grinders. 3) Did anyone peuk? 4) The start was a disaster perhaps because you hadn't checked the forecast detail - which is why you hit the line well under-canvassed. modern forecast detail tells us when and where it will be windy, and the day's headline max-wind figure is maybe not the important one. 5) Was this filmed on a GoPro camera? Or how? Brilliant work, anyway, and your best video so far. .

@@nestorandhisboat haha, i guess those old seadogs enjoyed having a nice young man on board, and obviousely, you were not there to provide for the 5 o'clock tea. In a side note, interesting how inappropriate some of the shoewear was, especially in case of man over board which luckily did not occur despite the weather conditions and the unsecure crawling over the boat, due to so many people occupying space on deck. What an adventure though!!!

Exciting stuff! Looks so much fun. Good test of waterproofs and stomach. I thought the change of headsail a bit crazy, it was definitely too big going up wind, you could see the main flapping continuously. (Main needs another reefing point). But downwind you perhaps needed more, so overall the skipper got it right. Those older design racing yachts are too good down wind, it would have been so much more fun on a modern, wide stern yacht (or even better a multihull) Great footage and commentary. (ps, was it really force9? An 8 is 39-46 knots. Beaufort scale is the average wind speed. And 3m seas? - the most accurate way to assess wave height is to ask someone and divide by three, though it was more than 1m.)

Typical young male - able to recite potential dangers and possibly even capable of understanding them, but fundamentally stuck in the mindset that he's the hero of his story, and heroes *always* survive. He got through this hairy experience and with some good adrenaline buzzes, so that will only reinforce his gut feeling that he's fricking immortal.
