All the comments I see are years old so I’m adding a new. This is amazing. Love seeing guys who play like this. It makes simultaneously grateful for the opportunity to play and yet, ache to be able to play like them.
Chris Thile , best mandolin player...EVER.....sorry Sam....It is what it is......
Cant get enough of this. Great place to hear the mastery of these two is on Mark O'Connors 30 Year Retrospective.
I got to see these two pick at the Midnight Jam at Merlefest years ago; they started on a Beatles' tune, then blasted into the improvisational stratosphere. At midpoint, they noodled a Beatles tune again, then returned to wailing spontaneously, and then, 20 minutes later, they ended on a Beatles tune. It was astounding, to say the least....
Insane. Thile always plays like he is having an out-of-body experience. Bryan Sutton is my favorite bluegrass guitar player, and has been since I first heard him -- but I've never heard his playing go into orbit like this. If watching this doesn't inspire a guitarist or mando player, I don't know what would...
Is there a better musician on the planet than Chris Thile?

The force is with these two.
DEAR GOD THE MUSICIANSHIP :O
Two geniuses operating with one mind. 😱😱😱😱
Great posting this - saw it on woodsongs but better to have it here without having to forward through their commercials. This is just great !!!

Not sure if I'm inspired or devastated bc I will never be near this good.
Toe to toe with Chris Thile... Bryan Sutton, Tony Rice's favorite disciple
Mastery musicianship!
Two awesome musicians playing an incr
Just, Wow!
Goodness Gracious... Very cool!
So funny to see the scroll of the headstock broken off such an awesome mandolin. I heard he dropped it coming off stage at a show. Also, Just realized that first minute is Angeline the Baker.
Damn, this shit is real.
They start dabbling in "Billy in the Lowground" around 4 minutes. Thile and Michael Daves play that on their new album, and Daves actually mentions in an interview that he learned a great version of the tune from Bryan Sutton. Great little connection there.
Aw man I was hoping that was the song that never ended
A-maz-ing!
Holy crap if I dont die first I WILL play like this someday.....Long live the Mando! Oh.. and I Love chris...lol

Sick sick sick...
Someone once asked what tune they were sampling: "Angeline the Baker" is the song right around :55 / 1:15. Right?

Yes. Angeline the Baker.
I don't think this is "sick" at all...it's healthy and a pleasure to watch. Am I dating myself?
