Enchainment (2022) Climbing all NZ's 3000m peaks in one continuous push
Спорт
Inspired by the human-powered enchainments achieved in Europe, in early summer 2021, Alastair McDowell & Hamish Fleming set out on a quest to enchain New Zealand’s 24 highest mountains above 3000 metres in a continuous 31-day push. This would be a transalpine journey, from west coast jungle to high-alpine summits, traversing some of New Zealand’s most dramatic landscapes. But with the clock ticking down, fatigue mounting and storms arriving, would they be able to complete the project before their time, weather & luck ran out?

This deserves more recognition. Unreal
What to say…. This is astonishing, incredible, the ne plus ultra of NZ mountaineering expose. The more you climb the more amazed you can be at what you guys just put up right there. Congratulations 🎉
I climbed for a month back in '89 (Cook,Tasman,Aspiring) and it only rained one day which happen while we were traveling on the bus to Aspiring. I guess you can say we lucked out on the weather. lol
Just read this story in Ray Salisbury's book Epic. Truly an Epic Adventure!
Awesome great achievement guys thank you for sharing the video, very cool to watch.
Incredible guys simply incredible!
What an incredible achievement! I can’t imagine how hard some of those days must have been. Awesome story captured perfectly 👏🏼
Put together beautifully Nick! Well done. Congratulations Hamish and Alastair!
Beautiful NZ ❤❤❤
How often can I say I've stood where nobody has ever stood before? There must be so many brand-new-views these legends get to experience, thanks for sharing them!
can’t believe we can watch content of this calibre for free. Congrats guys and amazing video
The jump across the river was epic, just like the entire trip. Congratulations boys
The important thing is that these boys had a good time in the outdoors communing with nature!
wow what an amazing film, meant to just take a look but every minute was so captivating. Fantastic film by you Nick and amazing effort by Alastair and Hamish.
Some of the things you guys did when not roped up looked amazing but also super scary! Such an awesome and inspiring film
Wow, such a great movie, kudos to the production team as well as Hamish and Al, absolutely stunning!
Well executed film capturing an epic adventure. Had a crack at Aspiring a couple months ago, hard to fathom climbing this peak after Cook, several other peaks and a lazy ride in between. Kudos to the lads. Cheers for Aspiring some new ideas in both film and climbs when I cross the ditch next.
FINALLY!! BEEN WAITING FOR AGES😍😁
This is epic. Well climbed, well filmed/edited, you guys deserve a lot of credit this!

Superb film, Nick. And a superb effort from the Lads as well, obviously.
Absolutely incredible, visually stunning and amazing piece of work!
Congratulation for this HUGE achievment!! Alastair, it was a pleasure to meet up with you in Oz few years ago, so blessed to follow your adventure from Europe. I rememberer reading your tale of Aoraki traverse on your blog and was so inspired years ago. this enchainment is definitively inspiring. Blessed to reach myself Aoraki and Titiitea during summer 2016 thanks to your inspiration! Keep on inspiring us! And you're always welcome in France :)

Thanks for making this beautiful film about such an amazing achievement.
Great film, incredible journey.
Great film and amazing scenery, nice work!
What an awesome achievement. Full marks to you both. Fantastic video, what beautiful ranges and spectacular views. Many thanks for sharing.
What a great watch!! Congrats Nick on an outstanding capture of a really significant achievement (I've been enjoying your channel for a while and this is next-level stuff mate!). Alastair and Hamish, I love how you capture the grinding fatigue of what you did - and the way that exposure becomes harder to tolerate - I only know this from four day missions, not what you guys did!

You guys are supermen ‼️🔥👍

Time for beer indeed:-] Congratulation! Great film and heroic achievement!
My feat isn't climbing mountains it's saving the same amount of cash as the height of every mountain on earth but in many ways it was just as hard!
Awesome
Just wow, iam spechless, you guy are insane !
Outstanding achievement, physically, mentally and technically top 1%
Epic.
amazing, saludos desde mt cook village
Congratulations, bloody epic, strenuous, indulging, competant, and, fulfilling. Thanks for the mindset, Walter Bonatti would be dead chuffed, as would many others, you Peaked at the right time............Robin Smith.......
This small motorcycle enthusiast loved the video! Incredible camera work, editing. Great story. Looking forward to whats coming next. Subscribed.
Well done, I read about this feat. Then I read about guy mickinnon who did it solo, and he has my favourite quote of all time.im just an amateur, by that I mean, I just get off the couch and go and do it.
superpower humans.... super power emotions
That's crazy. 30 Min didnt do it justice.
Incredible challenge, below average documentation. It's always a shame when that happens, but not everyone is a filmmaker.
just done Crib Goch for 4th scramble, in the wind and rain at 40mph, I get what they are saying about the mental energy it required and how it can leave you having so much exposure, it was new to me, very powerful though I can see how these guys would find it som amazing to do something like this.

well done, I also remember grib goch in inclement welsh winter weather and it was quite a day.
As we say in Mexico, "Chignón!"
Incredible 🤜 Does anyone know how they climbed up from the Tasman Gl. to Plateau Hut? Haast Ridge? That was horrible even back in the 80s!
@amcd061

Freshfield glacier into the top of Haast ridge, since we were coming from Malte Brun, it was fine actually!
You must be extraordinarily fit! How many calories were you burning a day?
Fantastic film, really inspiring. A couple of questions on your trip. Did you have some support on the journey, we noticed some gear switching mid way and fresh food that we're guessing might have been brought up to the huts? On some of the glaciers you roped up and some you didn't so as the route went on, did you find you were taking more calculated risks like that? Well done on the trip.
@amcd061

Thanks, we had food drops cached in 5 huts, it wasnt fresh food though. Those greens were left by some others in the hut. What gear swapping did you notice? We roped up for the majority of glacier travel as needed.

@@amcd061 Thanks for taking time out to reply, it helps us with some of our own projects, not as ambitous as this but helps a lot. On gear swapping I thought I noticed a switch from curved tech axes to more mixed axes on the long section but maybe my eyes decieved me. It doesn't matter either way as my questions are more to do with help on logistics and planning. Your vid is really helpful. Thanks.

We used a combination of petzl gully and petzl quark or BD viper for the whole trip. All the best for your projects!
Hi Nick, How can I contact you about permission and cost of using some seconds of this in a documentary?
15:29 wheres the rope!? 😮
you get permits to take drone vids ? Or you flying free over restricted and forbidden parks, reserves ?

Amazing doesn't even sumit it up
Try something constructive theres a housing shortage and you walking around all over the place isnt helping
@SanctionNormac

What, and your snarky comment is helping the housing crisis? ...why not create a more efficient recycling processing system? Why not construct a dyson sphere to alleviate global energy supply issues? Better yet; maybe you should be inspired by the amazing achievement documented here, and take a hike ; )
@kerrymillar4981

@@SanctionNormac ok clown we get your just a self centred person because your hike is a complete wast of time,so why dont you Crete a more efficient recycling processing system your self and stop us having to pay more tax,s for a helicopter to come rescue you when you are stuck on some mountain some where because personally i think they should leave you there so go take a hike your self fool!.

Impressive work! Congrats on this fantastic achievement 👏🏼
Inspiring 👌
not a mountain climber but would the weather be better in jan-feb-march looked like a bloody good mission
@amcd061

Better weather perhaps but the glaciers would be too broken this late in the season, too many crevasses.
So good!
