I'm kinda homeless (I live in my car). I'm originally from the hood but I spend all my time in rich neighborhoods. Why wouldn't I lol. Why would I wanna still be in the hood when I can sleep in rich white neighborhoods and go to all the same places they do. The stores are better, the parks, the infrastructure, you name it everything is better Why would I not wanna stay there.

Homelessness people can go to shelters if they feel unsafe. The thing is there are rules to abide by in a shelter and most don’t want to abide. I took a homeless man in when I lived in Seattle. He gave me a good lesson on the topic. Most want the lifestyle. Many get monthly checks and have cell phones. I took him to get free clothes and food.

I am ashamed to admit, that I have been getting a celebrity gossip type magazine for a few years now. However, if there's one interesting constant in the articles, it's the ones that show all the celebrities moving out of their Hollywood and similar areas "fancy homes". Previously, the stories would show photos of the homes they were about to move into. But now, those same stories show the homes they are moving OUT of. It just shows that even the celebrities are moving away from specific areas and moving far inland to begin again. How so much has changed over the past few years. There is zero denying that the West is on a complete meltdown, and perhaps by design, society IS on a complete reset. Looking at Europe, and it doesn't take a scientist to see how changes are also being pushed into place. I don't know much, but there's definitely some very powerful minds behind all this. No longer with positive goals, but instead it's like a huge blanket of negativity has been draped across the Western world.

Welcome to our new normal, everyone! If this is not happening right now in your neighborhood, get ready cos' it's on its way! I have lived in Brentwood, CA (West LA) for many years and our streets are drowning with the homeless defecating all over, smoking their crack pipes in front of businesses, rolling joints freely while sitting at bus stops, and mile high junk/trash stacked up blocking sidewalks. I witness completely mentally insane people walking all over talking and screaming at out into the ethers - and sometimes they swing metal poles, baseball bats, and sledgehammers (yes, I've seen all three). I started to see dump trucks coming by, but the encampments came back within a few days. It's utterly ridiculous and disgusting. MANY (not all) of the homeless today are not like the homeless population from 10-15 years ago. MANY (again, not all of them) are hooked on fetanyl and carry an aggresive and entitled mentality that they can do whatever they want, wherever they want, and steal from whomever they want. This **IS NOT** a housing crisis - this is mental health and drug addiction crisis and unfortunately I don't think we've seen the worst of it yet. Be prepared for what is to come. A few years ago a man indecently exposed himself as I was walking by and started masturbating while looking at me. I called the cops to create a police report, but I still see him walking and sleeping all over the area. I literally don't ever leave my home after the sun goes down because I don't feel safe. I bump into them nearly every.single.time I leave my home during the day. I have spoken to other neighbors who have been witnessing what is happening and we're all quite traumatized by what we now have to live in. We feel like we are being forced to live and share space with an unregulated insane asylum.

yep,,, mental health with street drugs. 10-15 yrs. ago is when they closed State Mental Hospitals, and put the mental patients out. They were there for a reason, so you got them out there,, and the new mental patients that have no State Hospital to be Committed to. (they claim it was against people human rights to keep em in a mental hospital). An easy way to reclaim those buildings and take another expense off their books. So, yeah you can't go out at night almost anywhere now. the only choice is to stay, carry something for your safety (pepper spray or, become a responsible gun owner --- with Training,, you need training, ). If you own a gun, the goal is to never Have to use it. (but be trained and calm),,, you train for the day you Might have to, to save a life. Of course, you can also get a baseball bat (a good solid one),, keep it near your bed. Your in a freakin warzone over there,,,,,, the only other choice is to move,, buy a old house for a good price somewhre descent. and make it safe have a garden and fix it up like a cozy old days kind of life. -- we're in the end times. CA is like a foreign country. i lived there,,, if you don't move,,, at least know where your headed if SHTF. Get a good vehicle you could potentially sleep in if things got that bad,,, and you had to flee.. Im a prepper, tryin to help.

Proposal to provide housing are as high a $800,000 + per home. There's $$$$ for both politicians and developers in building overpriced housing, but NOT in drug rehabilitation. Housing in downtown has turned into unlivable dwelling because they're drug addicts, many with mental disorders and they steal to support the habit. One problem with the homelessness is people coming to California from other states..if a homeless person has moved to California within the last 5 yrs and it is found he or she was bought to California for drug rehab, the rehab that paid for them to come here should pay for them to go back to the state they came from. This is a bigger problem than everybody wants to admit. Drug rehabs lore people to the state and then once the money runs out they kick him out on the streets. Money wont help unless we are willing to violate their rights. Locking them up in institutions until they are better. Right now, they are free to be F'd in the head, defecate in public, abuse drugs and alcohol, and our justice system will do nothing, even when it directly impacts citizens. Until we start locking them up for the purpose of getting sober, and treating their illnesses..... money wont matter.

Belongings ? It's mostly junk. The city has a program called Care Plus. They post warning a week before with an are highlighted to clean. The homeless move all of their crap outside the cleaning zone , then move it right back after the cleaning. A few months later they do it again. It's completely useless and a waste of resources. It accomplishes nothing but harassment of the homeless. A nearby school that had a large encampment within the ordinance restricted area was finally cleaned up and forced to move but only after the school officials threatened to go to the media . We are sick of this crap. These crews need to show up unannounced and give them 3O minutes to gather only personal belongings and one tent. The rest of this stuff is junk

The solution is quite simple. We will help you get clean, help you start a new life and give you shelter but if you stay on the street, you go to jail. Period. L.A. and CA have the resources. Why the city/state has been ignoring the problem for so long is mystery. They think building low cost apartment buildings is the solution.

Exactly. These aren’t people who are struggling to make ends meet; they have no ends. They’re on drugs or mentally ill. Many of these people don’t want to go into shelters and while shelters may or may not need to do a better job at transitioning these people, it needs to be ILLEGAL to camp on our streets. It’s only a matter of time before city officials throughout the state are forced to clear these camps.

This is infuriating to me...I have been working diligently, day after day to get encampments out of my business' area in Chatsworth. The aggravating thing here is that suddenly, because encampments are now encroaching on Beverly Hills and "affluent" areas, it makes the news. Those in my area have been voicing these concerns for far too long. I would love to have KTLA meet with me to get some air time on what my area, District 12, has been experiencing for years. I have a letter out to Council Member Lee addressing these concerns and formally requesting a meeting. I have request after request in for homeless encampment removals, parking enforcement violations, sanitation violations and service requests. Again, I would absolutely love to get some coverage of our area KTLA...this is what we need to make a change
