Have you thought to color-code the white emus with leg bands? That could help tell which is which without all the guesswork!

Love seeing how you accept the advice from Eli. It was a great idea and it worked ! And so the wait begins for Emu Hatch 2024 !
Yay I'm early. I sure hope the emu eggs work out this time! Also, if you wanna do a hatching project I would recommend you try Serama chickens. They are the world's smallest chickens and very friendly.

I have 7 Serama chickens. they love being near or seeing any baby chickens. They will just closely watch the babies eat their food or drink or do whatever. I recently added new Brahma chickens and the Seramas LOVE them!!! Every night when all the chickens gather everyone back to the coop, I always see them cuddling together every single night😭❤I also had one of my serama hens go broody this January. She had 4 babies!!! First time for her! The other chickens fell in love with them. Even the roosters❤

Think they've tried seramas and they also have sebrights (second smallest in the world) with some being smaller than seramas

Oh exciting ! I love the way you praise the kids by saying their name and then "good job" it must make them feel so good that they are helping however simple the task.

Absolutely 👍
Your boys are so helpful and mature working with the farm animals. You had been great parents for them! Keep it up!
Get a marker that's used to see if rams are tipping ewe's or the marker to see if cows are bulling and you'll see if your female is marked.

I was unaware of this method for determining mounting. Great idea; much easier than watching hours of motion sensor videos. And the deed may take place out of camera range anyway.
@tomaswall6935
5 ай бұрын
@@BiterAvid ya it's very easy, if you have a few males and do them different colours you'll know what male is mounting also. There is a harness for a ram and a chin ball for a bull that I am sure can be changed a bit to work for these.
@donaldduck9493

For sheep, we rubbed a paint like grease on the chest of the ram by hand. When./ if it mounts a female it leaves the paint grease on the back of the ewes.
The chicken food POV was amazing

@@whitehouseonthehill Your welcome! You probaby won't reply to this, but what are your thoughts on keeping quail? I think they would be a great addition to your farm!
I know this video is mainly about the emus, but I just want to say that all your birds are looking beautiful and happy! Really hope the new breeding season works out for the emus though. It seems like they're starting to figure things out now and you've learned a lot from last year too, so fingers crossed! 😁🤞
I’ve been waiting for what feels like forever for another video. Love you guys so much🥰❤️

My father raised Cockatoos and while he wanted the birds to nest Hatch, the bigger the bird the less he liked the success rate doing so. I noticed the snakes are the same, it's just harder for raised animals to do a good job when they are bigger and it helps the parent animals recover better and quicker so don't worry too much if that ends up your results too.
You should probably mark your emus especially the white ones you know which one Bert
The time lapse of you hanging the camera was both adorable and amusing.

I KNEW IT! Bamboo was the Alpha male from before. The new area they're in is a new territory hence why Bamboo was trying to assert his dominance when they're all in the horse field. That's why Bamboo was depressed cause he lost the battle of dominance in that area. That's why he was trying to go back to his area cause he knows that its his own territory. You guys should just leave Bamboo along with Peakaboo alone on that Emu yard and the rest are just in the horse yard
So beautiful to see the white peafowl ❤
I'm so excited for you all!

Your B role of the chickens and ducks is so calming to watch! ❤
With Bert and Ernie, I wonder if you could dye a couple of their feathers to ID them or .... can emu's wear collars, scarfs or ankle band. (wrote mid watch but pillow case was good idea) Makes me wonder if they can be lead with a leash like a dog or by treats. Don't know if they go crazy over some fruit or something. 4:37 kind of fun chicken eating asmr lol. Also wonder if they don't hatch if you find a way to drain them by maybe drilling a hole on either end and hang them by making a wire hanger over the compost for if they are smelly so you don't have to blow them out, just probably need to poke a long needle in there and mix it around to break the yolk, then you can save the shell and the kids could maybe paint them for Easter.
I still remember when bamboo the emu when he was a baby in 2019
while watching I had a thought. If the male emu don't get along and Bamboo is feeling broody, perhaps take some of the eggs to the other shed and see if he's okay with sitting on them over there and leave the "breeding" pair in the other part. I think the not sitting on the eggs is the part that is making him sad and off his food. Perhaps I'm wrong but just a thought. Thanks for the great content. Love every minute of it
Yay! I'm overjoyed to see your video today. Your still my favorite videos on you tube. God bless you all for sharing your amazing life and family with us. "This Bert, for the other Bert." 😂 That killed me, I understand that it's difficult to tell them apart and Jake calling them each Bert is just hilarious. There have been so many times I've worked with horses and some are soooo similar looking, almost twin like, it's hard to tell them apart. Hence why we add tags of their mama's name on the halters to help with that, even after weaning.

Maybe you can get some kind of leg bands on Ernie & Bert so that you can tell them apart.
How exciting! Best of luck to you and the emus for a successful clutch this year!!!
So eggcited about this years potential. God bless!🌱🌾🐣
Yay! A sneak peak at the mandarins! Its been a while. Can't wait til they move down to the aviary. :)
I breed snakes and they have very thin leathery shells and we mark on them all the time. Never have had any issues with it.
2 weeks of wait for new video feels like 2 years!! You guys are doing amazing
Here's hoping for a successful hatch! that will be fabulous. I hope Bamboo finally figures out mating!
Praying for your Emu eggs, will hatch!

Im so happy for you guys!, After all these years!!
So, a ferret visited me and bassically destroyed my flock. I had Silkies, Araucana, Cochinchina dwarf and Cochinchina frizzled. So this year i have to start all over again, that's why i could use a new incubator. Who knows, maybe i'll get some luck this time. Keep up the great work you guys are doing! 🙏🏻
Wishing you a happy new year. It always makes my day when you put a new video out. Thank you.
I am a huge fan of all your videos. Thank you.
At 4.30, I thought my brain was glitching when Bamboo stuck his head through the fence. Good luck with the eggs, hopefully this year will be blessed with emu chicks at last
Love you guys 😘❤️
I know this is about Emu's but my god your kiddos are growing up so fast!! I swear it was just yesterday he just toddling around with the chicks 😭😭
Beautiful and gorgeous smile from the kid 😆🫶🏻
Happy New Year ☺️
maybe bamboo is already the father, might also be the reason why she layed early, n u didnt need the other males at all, cause u also see bamboo be dominating n fighting back.

Wishing much good luck with emu babies to come this year. Wonder if the other female may try to lay eggs this year?
You should keep then
You: what’s up Kid: Good 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Last time I watched was when they first got the emus
Bamboo definitely is In love… with you Jake
I just started the video. So happy to see emu eggs again! Maybe sacrifice one egg to check the inside of it? Like with chickens you should probably be able to tell if they’re getting fertilized 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️

No dont sacrifice any its for no reason..time will tell... be patient
Hope round two produces some Emu chicks for you guys!!
Isaiah and Bella’s blue eyes are so beautiful! Fingers and toes crossed for the emus!
This is so cool
Hopefully they will hatch this time. It's been a while to see baby emu
To help tell the boys apart you can put something on their leg scene they are not growing it won't be to tight
13:00 bamboo is so funny 😂
There is a reptile KZreadr who uses markers on all her reptile eggs which are sometimes thinner and more rubbery than bird eggs. They have never had a problem with anything seeping through the eggs
iam looking forward for the aviary.. hope you give us and update ❤❤❤❤ watching from philippines
4:20 the stare 💀
the ducks are sooooo funny🤣🤣🤣
Any update on your.latest clutch of emu eggs Been over 2 wks since we actually seen the eggs moving xx
1 thing here. ask your self this. what is Bamboo is mating with Peekaboo. & you just have not seen it at all. You need to give Bamboo & Peekaboo a chance first. GIVE BAMBOO THE CHANCE TO BE A FATHER FIRST. I FEEL HE MAY HAVE MATURED.
@hirarana93
5 ай бұрын
i think so too. maybe bamboos already the father, might also be the reason why she layed early, n he didnt need the other males at all, cause u also see bamboo be dominating n fighting back.
It is awesome that Bamboo is better than he used to be about being dominant.
How exciting to anticipate more baby imus
So I was just curious as to what is happening with the Avairy Project as the last update was the beautiful water feature.
I hope this time you bring some of the emu eggs in for incubation. Would be nice if the emus hatched some but doesn’t look very hopeful. I’ll cross my fingers for you 🤞
You need to get a cattle panel or some board to walk behind them to direct them. It will be easier.
I haven’t watched the whole video yet, but have you thought of putting sheep marking spray/powder/crayon on her rump so that you can see if someone bred her (and who)
Good luck 🤞
Consider marking the eggs with the discovery date. 💖🌞🌵😷
i cant believe that the first egg layed was on my bday!!!! 🎉🎉
Wonderful development! Tricky stuff figuring out the mating processes of the emus. Good Peekaboo! If both the male's want to sit on the eggs, can you make a nest for each of them? Wouldn't it be wonderful if Bamboo actually paired up with Peekaboo?
@whitehouseonthehill
5 ай бұрын
Yes, they each took some of the eggs last year to sit on.
I can't imagine there's no better way than the pillowcase
JUST A THOUGHT COULD YOU NOT USE HAND WARMERS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT A HEATING PAD OR SOMETHING UNDER THE EGGS LIKE A HEATED FLOOR FOR THE EMU EGGS WHEN ITS THIS COLD ON YOUR FARM? (Just enough to keep from freezing but not enough to incubate ?
Good luck see you next time.
