I love my Kathmandu, I love all kinds of Nakha:Chakha , I was born and raised in Kathmandu. I’m not Newar but culturally I’m more Newar that Brahmin. Even though there is Newar Brahmins too (it’s a whole different topic). I was born in Sankhu (Newari bazaar) in Kathmandu, I was raised in Baneshwor. Went to school in Vanasthali which was predominantly a Newari school . I understand Newari very well. My mother is Brahmin but from bhaktapur and she is also Newar culturally. The moment my Newar friends know my last name and not Newar, they ask me right away “timro pahar ko ghar chain kata ni?” Specially during Dashain. I used to wish I was just like some other people who go to their pahar house. I was left alone in Kathmandu, I meant empty Kathmandu. But I kindda enjoyed the less crowded and less polluted Kathmandu during Dashain. Thanks bro for taking me right back to my childhood.
