Empty Melbourne apartment tour - Australia 108 building

In this video I walk you through our old apartment at Australia 108 - the highest building in the Southern hemisphere at 319m apparently. Enjoy :)
Not sponsored. We were moving out and I took the opportunity to film in case anyone wanted to see a walk-though of the type '13' apartment (2 bedroom, 2 bathroom).

Probably due to the rental increases we are seeing all over Melbourne/Victoria and even interstate in NSW and QLD too, it is unfortunately making people look elsewhere for a better deal. The rental game is a real sad state for renters at the moment :(

Thanks for sharing, wonder how’s the overall feeling to be living in this building? Is it too many people to be in one large building ? Any long waiting for taking lift ? Multiple national residents would that cause any culture conflicts ? 😊

You’re welcome! It’s certainly quite busy with lots of people coming and going -both a good and bad thing for different aspects. The lifts are very fast, I’ve never had to wait too long really. They have 3x that service floors 11-42, 3x for floors 44-70 and another 3 I think for floors above that (“Cloudrise apartments”). There are a diverse range of backgrounds , but I have found people friendly and welcoming and hope everyone feels that way. Unfortunately there are quite a few short stay guests especially during holiday periods that can display some negative behaviours. All in all we enjoyed our time living at Australia 108, and the facilities are pretty impressive.

@@EliseHewlett, so why you moved out? Finished your study ? What about public transportations? Are they building a subway network covers in CBD and Southbank ? Sorry for many questions? 😅

Hi Elise, do you hear the building creak in high winds?

We were lucky enough to have apartments that we didn’t hear significant noise!! We lived in 3 different ones in Australia 108 and the first apartment was so quiet!! We were wondering what some people were complaining about! The second and third were some noise only on the most windiest days, and pretty easily ignored. I was sad to hear it’s really bad for some people. I think it’s very specific to each apartment. Seems like a real luck of the draw 😬😬

It is yes it’s only 59.6m2 I think (59 point something). We were ready for something a bit bigger and quieter/out of the hustle and bustle :)

Very small and claustrophobic; not suitable for long-term living in my opinion.

Yes, I tend to agree, it is quite small. I had definitely seen many smaller apartments than even this one in Melbourne, including bedrooms that you could only juuuust fit a Queen size bed in! Fortunately the high ceilings in Australia 108 helped this one feel a bit more spacious, and I personally didn't find it claustrophobic, but understand some might still feel that. Fine for short term, but I think most (if you're like me) will find themselves wanting something bigger than this for the long term :)

@@EliseHewlett Thanks for your response Elise. I looked at your post out of curiosity for this iconic building. Some of the grander apartments appealed, except for the enormous cost they would involve. I am fortunate to live in a large Victorian house and garden in Toowoomba, so the contrast with cramped accommodation in inner Melbourne was striking.
