Employee Motivation: Equity Theory
Equity theory helps us understand work motivation by looking at people's values. In this clip, I discuss the five key parts of equity theory, an example of how it may operate at work, and some of the implications it has for managers.

you saved my life~ or rather my grades, thanks!
This is the best explanation of equity theory I have encountered out of the last 22 I listened to. My professor could not make this as clear as you did and I am grateful for an alternative. Thank you!
Hello everyone! I'm glad so many of you have found this video helpful. Please let me know in a comment if there's another topic within organizational behavior, industrial/organizational psychology, leadership, etc. about which you'd like to know more. I'm thinking about topics for another video, so your ideas would be great. Thanks!

Theory of motivation helps young and upcoming managers because it allows the employees to feel a sense of belonging. This will go a long way in capacity building and corporate perpetuation and profitability. It goes without saying that motivation is the booster for any management set up. However, it `is the responsibility of Managing Directors to inculcate motivation policy in their concerns. Thanks
wow , thx man what a great vedio
Good explanation
just amazing
Nice job ben.
Great video!! Just like to ask how in the first situation it applies to the NBA player? thanks
very valuable
What about quitting as a a response for perceived an inequity?
thanks!
Thanks! Regarding the NBA player example, think about it in terms of his input and outcomes. Under the original contract, he felt his ability, experience, etc (all of his inputs, what he has to offer) matched well with the pay. After his highly successful season, however, he began to perceive an inequity based on his increased inputs (doing really well that season). As such, he felt he deserved more outcomes (more pay). Does that help?

Key part 4 is based on key part 2, or a further explanation of how people compare themselves to a referent other.

Loved the video! Would love to connect.
Great summary, but doesn't Dr. Baran sound just like Mr. Peanut Butter from BoJack Horseman ??
"OK"
You say " I am allowed to do anything "- but not everything is good for you. And even though "I am allowed to do anything, I must not become a slave to anything " 1 corinthians 6:12 Do not be a slave to sin. Jesus loves you.
Camilas.
I think the comparison between Jane and Rob is unfortunate.... There is an intrinsic inequality between women and men in our society... Also in business. I believe it is not right
i don't like bob. he's least favorite character
