I can't get enough of black metal no matter what

Can't believe Ihsahn wrote this when he was 16. Absolutely mindblowing to me.

I'm not listening to nowadays black metal, actually i stopped listen black metal at all. But there is a couple of masterpieces that will stay with me forever. This is one of them!

@Alexito924 Pantera will always be #1 to me, but a very short list would be Opeth,, Fear Factory, Metallica, and Megadeth. Mostly a older metal. I hear stuff I really like in Emperor, but the vocals are turning me off(love the title of this song tho). I'm just asking because I hear a lot of awesome here, but can't get past the vocals. Just want to be sold on it. Really there isn't any reason for anyone to care what I think, but somehow I want to like them, but can't get too into it.

Never noticed this thing about the tuning, but there is definitely something fishy about a black metal album where the synth is three times higher than the guitars in the mix. It is masterfully composed and played, but I am also a bit angry because it has inspired so much crappy "gothic" "black metal-influenced" sympho-new romantic "metal" like Dimmu Borgir and what's even worse. When it sounds metronomic and un-dynamic, with visual inspiration out of Playstation games, this didn't exist in 92.

I'm not trolling or trying to start an argument, just wondering why you all love this music. I'm a metalhead, but black metal isn't my thing. The insturmental is cool, but the vocals sound like ass to me. I just want to know why it is appealing to people? Basically I just want to know if y'all are hearing things in this music that I'm missing, or if it just comes down to a matter of taste.

I dont know why, but I can´t get along with Emperor. I mean I really like all the other shitty bands but Emperor doenst really touch me, I can´t get me this "Kick" like for example Burzum does. Strange.

And I also think I really hate what Emperor has done after the debut LP. And I listened to Ihsahn's solo work, what the fuck? It was embarassing to listen to, there should be laws preventing music like that, I absolutely hated it. I think it's the common disease that people become rock stars and they lose sight of what they are and where they come from, suddenly they sit with noses full of cocaine, thinking everything they do is genius, I think the Industry kills Music!

Honestly, I've been trying to get into black metal for so fucking long. But the production on pretty much every black metal album is so unlistenable.

He stopped with black metal because he's racist, and metal came from "blues" music, started by black people, I'm not a fan of his dark ambient stuff, his first few albums were good, the actually black metal ones.
