    The second stylist just used a balayage technique to highlight the ends in a gradient. I truly believe the first stylist could have done the same. The color looked great in the first one but the lighter ends are what’s popular right now (for like the past 8 years). I truly believe the first stylist was just trying to keep the hair as healthy as possible through the chemical process. If you have a background of hair loss and the goal is to protect the hair you have to go the long route of lightening so then you’re not frying the hair so much at one time. I truly feel like the first stylist had nothing but her best interests in mind while trying to give her what she wanted.

    @@e-qvlant Ur contradicting urself in that comment. How can she give what the client wanted when she misunderstood that the client didn’t want a protective style? She clearly didn’t give the client what she wanted. How do u know what exact information was given at the time? This is an overview of the story so clearly it leaves a lot of information out. When someone is recovering from a disease like this the stylist would have had a consultation. As a stylist it’s up to u to get all the information you need. If the stylist could not give the client what she wanted she should have said so. If as u said she did know and just decided not to in order to protect the clients hair she’s still in the wrong. U need to be upfront if ur not comfortable w doing something. This is what you’d call a misunderstanding it’s not the stylists or the clients fault entirely but the stylist is still at fault bc it’s not what the client wanted. And the client is at fault for not explaining it in a way the stylist would understand.

  • @e-qvlant

    @e-qvlant

    @its_me_luv6941 The customer explained that she was having issues with hair loss and wanted a protective style. Therefore the hair stylist gave her a protective style. The customer actually wanted highlights, which inherently are not protective which is why the 1st hair stylist didn't give her highlights. Therefore the hairstylist gave the customer what the customer wanted (as in what she originally requested), and the customer hadn't actually requested what she really wanted because she asked for a protective style while wanting bleach. Those two things don't go together. Therefore the hair stylist gave the customer what she expressed she wanted, because the hair stylist can't read her mind and telepathically understand that the customer is contradicting herself. The hairstylist didn't decline the request because based on the information she was given, the request itself, that the customer wanted protective and gave a sample photo, she provided those exact requests in her style. It's not her fault that her customer doesn't understand her own request. It's literally like going into a McDonald's and asking for a CHEESEburger with NO CHEESE, or a hamburger ADD cheese. Or going to a nail salon and asking for a square nail, but round oval. You can't explain wanting a protective style, ask for a protective style, and then get pissy when your hair stylist gives you a protective hairstyle that looks like your sample photo, but protective. As for where I got the "details", use context clues hun. This is an overview of the story, but there's information throughout the story that points to the misunderstanding being from the customer incorrectly requesting a protective style when that's not actually what she wanted. If you'd like to claim that I can't make an educated opinion based on said context clues, you can't either (because that's also what you're doing in your argument). It's the pot calling the kettle black 😉.

    @@e-qvlant At no point in that video did the client ever say she wanted a protective style. She said she was ‘very specific abt how she wanted her colour’ done. Which means it wasn’t protective and I think ur using the phrase protective style wrong. It’s abt causing as little damage as possible which is the same for every single client u get in ur chair. I’m a stylist myself if someone is booked in for foils or a colour it’s not abt a protective style. It’s abt trying to damage the hair as little as possible while still getting the end results the client wants. That’s where the first stylist failed and the second was successful. If u can’t do what ur client wants u need to tell them. Bc the stylist didn’t say that I’m going to assume there was a miscommunication. But please, tell me exactly where the client said she wanted a protective style.. I’ll wait.

    Agreed, sadly even with photos sometimes they still go rogue XD I always brought photos and one stylist literally razored off my hair when I said I wanted to keep the exact length that I already had more than once. To be more specific I was basically getting most of my hair cut short EXCEPT for my bangs. I hate my eyes and always keep my bangs long to cover them. I've even had that stylist quite a few times previously as well. Unfortunately, she started with the bangs and as I said she just razored them off and I freaking cried.

    Wow. This is so gross. This video really says more about what kind of person you are, than what it says about the stylist. You said yourself that you are sure it was a communication error, so there wasn’t any intent to do it wrong, or a lack of skill. You then proceed to very, very publicly criticise her whilst showing her on camera. Also, the majority of the time when someone says it was a communication error, they are acknowledging that they didn’t explain it properly in the first place. Even if that isn’t true and they misunderstood, what I’m saying still stands. You could have quite easily put a video together where it doesn’t show her face, or better yet, not make the video at all. It isn’t a particularly important video, or a very memorable one that people are going to get large amounts of enjoyment from. It’s another tedious life update that no one really asked for. Imagine how that stylist feels. Turning an embarrassing situation into a very public embarrassing situation. I’m not saying don’t complain when your hair isn’t as you want it. We should all be able to leave a salon/barber with the hair cut/colour that we want. But showing the stylist on camera after criticism of her is a real nasty dick move. Shame on you. I hope other stylists see this and choose not to take you on as a client.

    love this look and love that this place has such professionalism to rectify a mistake! for those of you that may be confused i believe the issue was with the highlights and the lighter tone being so close to her roots, with regrowth and if hair is thinning or unpredictable, this style can be harder to maintain and can also amplify the appearance of regrowth and thinning (lighter hair can give the appearance of lighter hair, highlights closer to the forehead can also give the forehead a bigger appearance, especially if someone has thinner hair at the front of their head). with cooler tones, it can help give the hair a fuller look while also not requiring as much touch up or maintenance! it DOES make a difference and i’m happy that this mama was able to get the look she was after as it’s stunning! let’s not forget how much we ourselves can magnify something in our minds - when we want something to look a certain way. it’s especially hard to speak up at a lot of hair salons so even if it’s “minor”, we should always speak up, and as mama said, there was a miscommunication (which happens) - especially if you’re paying for it!

    It looks like she asked for a smudge root or grown out look with the darker toner and low lights and the stylist did a tap root and baby lowlights which wasn't as dramatic but alot of clients legit ask for the wrong thing because they mix up the terms they "heard" on the internet. I feel bad for the 1st stylist having her face shown when we only have the client side of the situation.

I always had to fix other stylists mistakes and miscommunication but at the end of the day it was the client not explaining properly or knowing what they really wanted. Highly stressful environment. Men would never pull any of this stress upon the stylists. And not to mention the end results looked exactly the same !!!

    As a stylist who can’t make money off you, I’ll recommend that you steer clear of hair extensions because they can pull more hair out. Your hair does look totally fine on its own, cutting it shorter gives it more volume, as you can already see. Just use cold pressed castor oil for at least half hour before shampooing your hair, mix in rosemary essential oil and black pepper essential oil into the castor oil. Shampoo 2-3 times with a clean natural shampoo, condition only from mid shaft to ends.

    Have you ever mentioned this to your hair stylist? If not, you def should. Have they never shown you exactly how to use the products that they are using on your hair before? If not, that’s a bummer imo. Because they could be selling you some great products hopefully for you to use at home. And giving you some tips or instructions on how to use them yourself. I went to hair school and have a cosmetology license. I don’t work in a salon anymore. But it’s very rare for someone to be able to do their own hair in the same exact way a stylist can. Simply due to the angle someone else can work at as opposed to you doing it yourself. But I would def say something next time you get your hair done. A great hair stylist will have no problem helping you achieve a similar look at home with the right tools, technique and products.

    Your hair looks great the 1st and 2nd time both stylists wear great. pictures will be great and useful for the stylist next time so you won’t have to go through those emotions, realize that this is a service and it was done twice so I hope you tipped the first stylist very well due to miscommunication and misunderstanding (pictures would solve that issue) it was an honest mistake, she removed your installation and performed a hair coloring service (start to finish) The 2nd stylist did an excellent job and I’m glad she was able to have you walk out with a smile. Our insecurities tend to rube off as being rude so be mindful of that so others won’t feel insecure as well due to being human and making an honest mistake Just like you personally want someone to take care of you, please realize you have to do that same thing to others At the end of the day you and 20,000 others are experiencing the same thing so probably finding a group to help will prevent you from publicly belittling this stylist
