But she's not gender fluid th she is only refered to as "she her" unless she specifically transformed into a male. And she dosnt correct. *only saying "easier being a girl? That's haliroius" and" I'm not a girl in a shark" becuse she felt icty and needed to shapeshift, but that dosnt make her gender floud She is a She As a female. It hurts to see all the strong female characters getting turned NB GF or trans. (People tried making Louisa from Encanto trans cuz she's big and strong) Makes it seems As if bio females can't be fun chaotic or strong And balister asking her to be "normal" is a pretty... decent request.. seeing a giant red gorilla is kinda a dead giveaway Easier for who? For balister!! he is trying to do somthing and she inserted herself into it xD
Something really interesting I noticed that hit me hard was the fact that Gloreth is portrayed chasing off the monsters as an a d u l t. She was a child. She didn't _do_ anything, she was just following the morals of the adults around her. Had Gloreth not told Nimona to leave, the movie could've been very different. I just think it's interesting that they all talk about "Gloreth's will" and "What Gloreth wanted" but that wasn't what Gloreth wanted, it was what the village wanted. Gloreth just wanted her friend. Might be a weird thing for my brain to have focused on but I find it interesting nonetheless.
@MurriciTerceiro
11 ай бұрын
Gloreth followed the conditioning the village input on her; she probably grown up to become a real knight, to train others to repell monsters as she thinks she did, by "being noble" and plumetting a sword through their hearts. the power of conditioning and the incapability of those under it's influence to question it is a big message in this movie.

I mean chances are given how low the percentage in the population is, more cis people will end up getting collateral hatred and discrimination, the bathroom bills hitting masc. cis women and such. Or the school sports ban against like 3 trans girls, chances are more cis girls will be accused of being trans by ppl intending to wield that law against them then actual trans girls who want to compete in school sports. But then again chances are a lot of the people who support and/or propose this kind of legislation likely have some less then favourable views on anyone that might be mistaken as trans or intentionally "mistaken" as trans. So the collateral might be if not intentional then welcome, in order to restore ""tradition"".

You absolutely weren't reading too much into the metaphor they were going for with Nimona's shapeshifting. I've had my father tell me to think about how it would affect *him* if I publicly came out/transitioned like Bal in the beginning asking her to just "be normal" all the time and refuses to call me by my preferred name or pronouns regardless leading to the uncomfortable sensation of wanting to break free from my own skin like Nimona describes, and when I get to wear skirts, or I'm around people who love me for me, I feel free and alive like her shapeshifting. I absolutely love your sense of humour, your energy, your lack of fear to be yourself, and the fact that you do a lot of animation reactions, which the most criminally underlooked medium of movies/tv. All of that good stuff combined means you've earned yourself a new subscriber in me. Sincerely, Penelope-Rose (She/they)
Putting this at the top in case nobody else answered about Nimona's pronouns. Nate Stevenson himself referred to Nimona with she/her pronouns, so you should be fine in still using those pronouns.

Hit enter a little early. You asked about the five things we would shapeshift into. For me, it would be(in no particular order): 1. The androgynous human form I view as the most accurate representation of myself. 2. A wolf(my favorite animal) 3. A bird of some kind(having trouble deciding which one) so I could fly around 4. A shark, because who doesn't want to be a shark? 5. Dragon if we're allowed something outside of normal, a snake if not.
There's a fun irony to that filter you put over the footage. Partway through the graphic novel this is based on, Nimona changes her hair to purple. So your filter choice actually kept her looking right to character!
I'm rewatching this for the fifth time and I just can't stop thinking about all of the Nimona's out there that didn't have a Bal to help them in the end
As a netflix, previously blue sky, movie, i did not expect this movie to tackle such a heavy topic as trans suicide, but im glad it did. its a subject that needs to be discussed more, no matter how taboo it is. her bieng in so much pain, that she is so willing to accept death is a feeling so many people, including myself, can relate to. You've probably seen this somewhere already, but if of the reasons this took so long to make was Disney bought the studio making it and cancelled it. No guesses for why. I'm so glad Annapurna picked it up. It's so, so good. 2023 is a hard year to be yourself in, so a movie with that at its core is what we need right now.
The visceral reaction to seeing a s*icidal character have someone who truly cares for them see their pain and still see them is so real
I love that you saw the squire and Bal both looking weird at Bal's sword, cuz I totally missed that.
The more I think about it, I kinda feel like Blue Sky missed an opportunity in the "once people see you as a villain, that's all they'll see you as" theme: Ballister in the book was known as _Blackheart,_ not _Boldheart;_ given that we get to see his fall from grace as a part of the story, rather than a flashback, it would have been great if somehow the Institute-run media had started calling him "Ballister Blackheart" as part of the propaganda against him. Ah well. Still a fantastic movie, regardless.
Todd is a shinning example on why legacy creates weakness and merit should be a deciding factor. Todd doesn't have to think, his future was assured. the rest of us have to work for what we got and give more than we physically can.

There were a lot of things that shook me to my core with this movie. It is a fantastic film, which portrays gender identity so well, and so subtly at that. Its a bunch of hidden meanings built into a wonderful adventure. This movie had me laughing, crying, and at the end of the day, it spreads so much awareness about the effects that people who differ from "the standard" suffer from within society. Whether youre LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, unique, or find yourself out of place in any way, this movie is absolutely holding your hand through it all. Heres hoping for an eventual sequel. 👍 EDIT: not sure if you're aware, but the video has some sort of color filter on it. not sure if this is automatic in what you used to watch the movie, or if this was placed in your reaction to help with copyright issues. so just thought id point it out.
This movie is like watching Arcane episodes 3 and 7 on loop. The highs, the lows, the action, the comedy, well worth the wait. One thing I thought they did well, was embodying emotions in characters. Some people were able to grow, and some you hated from start to finish. Even when the douche put flowers down it didn't change how I felt and I thought "you don't have the right".

@@lydfangirl118 It definitely gives you hope that someone as bad as Todd can have hope. I still didn't like him though (although that is a great measure to the writing of the character and the voice actor).
The fact that Namibia actually goes against the tip of the sword at the end shows how brave the writers were in covering serious topics
I was SO excited to find out this was made by Nate Stevenson! The Queen's voice actress also played Shadow Weaver in SPOP, which Nate also created; And there's an elderly lady (side character) who looks an awful lot like Madame Razz too. I'll put a timestamp if I can see her. Edit, here she is - 42:35 Other noteworthy appearances include RuPaul as one of the newscasters, and Eugene Lee Yang (from the Try Guys) as Ambrosius!

In Nimona there is also a line about "promise" that reminded me a lot of She-Ra. I can't reproduce it exactly now. I definitely watched She-Ra one or two times too many, I think😅 and it will keep happening
Nimona the comic: If you go in with the context that the creator was a few years away from transitioning and hadn't yet come to terms with their feelings about their identity, you can see a trans allegory there. Nimona the movie: IF YOU DON'T SEE THE TRANS ALLEGORY OF THIS MOVIE, WE HAVE FAILED AS CREATORS. Both versions of Nimona: ACAB, it's not just "a few bad apples," the whole system is rotten. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed both versions.
I could relate to her. People hate me because I'm different. So I decided to let my different scare people. My arm is flexible and my fingers are also and I walk different. So I decided to let people freak out about it. Also if people see You as a villain. Then be an Anti-hero
I cried more watching you watch it than I did first time round!
I finally got to watch Nimona last night. This is definitely the emotional support reaction I needed. I loved this movie so much, and I also didn't expect it to go that deep.
Mosco being a genius (as usual) - 3:19 5:02 5:59 7:25
As a person who read the book and watched the movie I’m so happy how this movie came out! Definitely in my top 10 or too 5 fav movies!!!
Im so glad that you found this!! Also •hugs• sorry for what i am sure is about to be a Lot of tears
You can always count on Hamish for emotional support.❤
I have never seen anyone understand a movie so well and first reaction in my life. And you picked such a beautiful movie to start with. Brava.

Aww thank you so much Kathy!!! If this is your first reaction I defo recommend looking up other movies you enjoy and other reactors :D it's a fun little genre!! Thanks for giving my video a chance!
I was so emotionally unwell before I watched this movie, had no clue what I was getting into, so yeah it BROKE me. Good thing I had my meds and an emotional support human nearby. Loved the movie so much.
And for the record I think that you are right on the money with the levels of deeper meaning. I take this to be a story about acceptance in general. Whether it is based on orientation, identity, or just being yourself. We need more Nimona and stories like Nimona!
Arm chopping is just handholding made portable 😊
YAY, there seriously arent enough reactions for this beautiful movie!!
This was so beautiful to watch as one of the animators on the film. Bravo on your predictions. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and I hope the feels weren't too hard for you at the end.

Good job on the movie! It’s one of the most well-animated movies I’ve seen!
Just watched the movie with my mom, and we both loved it. Stevenson really knows how to tug at my heartstrings with his character writing (which you'll see in season 3, by the way 😁)
As soon as I watched Nimona, I knew I HAD to see you react. So excited to watch!
Omg yes! I just saw this movie few days ago and it golden. Truly the best send off BlueSkies could of had.
You have no idea (you prolly have every idea) how soothing it is to see someone else watch a movie and have the same, open reactions that I do. Most everyone in my life are a lot less emotional than I am, so to see my heart reflected in you….it’s just really really nice. That’s probably weird to say. Five things I’d shapeshift into? 1) A phoenix 2) A dragon 3) A wolf 4) This one is interchangeable. Aka I didn’t have an answer 5) Myself, the way I’m supposed to be. That answer’s a little too real. I just found you, so I don’t know if you take requests, but just in case I wanted to suggest another movie that really punched me in the heart. Its Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: the Movie Sounds silly, I know. But hear me out. It’s beautifully animated, and you don’t necessarily need to watch the show in order to understand the movie (although the show is just fun imho, and has some really good representation in it). It’s a little scary, a little badass, and is so SO full of heart. I want to thank you for reacting to Nimona. This was so cathartic to watch.
As a pizza chef and a Hawaiian, its a worthwhile aspiration to get Mosco to appreciate the merits of pineapple on pizza

Great chance for me to solve a doubt. Here in Colombia people make "Hawaiian" pizza and empanadas, and the signature ingredient is pineapple. But the pinapple is cooked, giving it more consistency. Is it the same in actual Hawaiian pizza?

@@mrpalaces the way I make it, i put freshly sliced pineapple chunks on before it goes into the oven, thus getting cooked with everything else

Because I’m trying to cut back on processed meat, instead of the typical Pizza Hawaii I had one with pineapple and hot peppers today, which is a really nice combination.

@@Morpheus451 Actually that is my favorite! but I add one thing that marries them so well - goat cheese. Those 3 are phenomenal together
Nimona reminds me a lot of original-Norse-mythology Loki. He's usually a he, but sometimes not (and has even given birth), can take on any form and the attributes thereof, is a being of ambigous origin who kind of enjoys chaos...and gets treated as the bad guy, even though he isn't really.
aha! I loved your initial misunderstanding and then reaction to realizing they're together haha, loved the reaction as always :)
Wolf, wings of a sort, rat, any human form because that would help so much, and a cat. Absolutely loved this movie and it's overall message
Omfg hell ya, “metal”
You absolutely are not reading too much into it 🥰
I normally dont mess with movies like this but its crazy how good writing of characters can make a movie good.
So glad you enjoyed this movie, and so happy to have found your channel through it! I heard about it through the Try Guys as Eugene voices Goldenloin, I didn't know until after that ND Stevenson was behind it and geeked out so much!!! I have to go watch your She-Ra reactions now, it is one of my all time favorite shows. If I could shapeshift into anything, it would probably be a cat, turtle, goose, tiger, or maybe a bear. Awesome video, this movie is a true masterpiece.
48:35 😂 they just Spider-Man Homecoming-ed the ending
Fun fact: The person who voices the queen is the same voice actor that voiced Shadow Weaver in She-ra and the princesses of Power!
One of my favorite quotes from Regina in OUAT: Evil isn't born it's made.
ARM CHOPPING IS NOT A LOVE LANGUA-
I also thought of it as a metaphor for neurodivergent. I think nimona can be a metaphor for just about all marginalized groups 😂
I don't even watch movies but this one was SOOOO GOOOOD.
Nimona basically becomes like Bals daughter. Any good dad upon hearing that the environment their child is in makes them want to DIE will instantly go “ok, we have to make sure you’re safe, we’ll leave.” (Sans like literally financially not being able to and stuff)
i am so hyped for this!! i adored nimona and i was hoping the skittle gang would be reacting to it! does anyone know if anyone else is reacting to it?
I live in the south in the US as someone who is afab, a gender fluid enby, and naturally have an androgynous body naturally. I get the question "what are you a lot" and Nimona is a character I connect with a lot. edit: also Nimona's pronouns are never really addressed but they go back and forth between she/her and it/its
It's probably for the best that Disney didn't keep this movie; if they'd had the final say, it would likely have been a less hard-hitting and more conventional movie
Thanks for reacting to this. After I watched it, I knew it was gonna be a big one for you, Morgan and Zamber. And I'll be stunned if it doesn't get the animated feature Oscar
The setup in the scene where 'Goldenloin' gets stabbed is amazing. When Nimona shapeshifts there's always some purple/pink in there. In the whole form or just a bit; Ballister had a streak of pink in the hair. Goldenloin has been wearing a pink-detailed armour ALL the movie. There is no tell we can see.
Beautiful reaction!! Thank you for reacting to this beautiful movie! This is another triumph over the mouse!
11/10 movie for me i absolutely loved it and its messages. i haven't seen spiderverse yet so it's probably too soon for me to say this, but i think this is my best animated film of the year haha i also love the contrast of the futuristic and advanced world with the very traditional and conservative ideals held by the people.

you definitely weren't reading too much into the gender allegory stuff haha. s'why the movie hits so hard for so many people, i think.
The reason it took 7 years was because Blue Sky was bought by Disney and then shut down when the movie was almost done. The movie was in limbo for a long time. Luckily, Disney sold it to Netflix and it was finished. As as side note i loved how Bal and Abrosias' relationship was analogous to Nimona and Gloreth's relationship and had to face the same issues.
i just watched this today and actually the part that got me hardest was when she was handed the stone to play that little game
Loved the reaction and cried along with you :') Also i understand about copyright, but the credits are ABSOLUTELY worth checking out! Some fun stuff in there ;) and as a trans guy living in america rn, the messages in this movie hit extra hard oof
I watched this today with my daughter and boyfriend because I could tell it was something we would all really enjoy....I was 100% right up until the end. It emotionally broke all of us (my daughter most especially); so thankful for the last few seconds because that would have hurt too much (lol). Such a wonderful movie!!!
YIPPEEE!!! favorite reactor reacting to my favorite movie🔥🔥
