I'm distantly related to Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gayle. My family came from Eastern KY to far Eastern Oklahoma. Music is in the family tree all the way to distant relatives. They are distantly related to Chris Stapleton, Patty Loveless, Rebecca Lynn Howard... as am I. I can't sing but I can play a musical instrument. One of our distant relatives is in the old time fiddlers hall of fame. The list goes on.

We can't choose our family.. but we can choose to be who we are. She's a star in the making...

When Emmy was a little baby as a country dj from Ireland I was privileged to be invited back stage and there was Loretta Lynn baby sitting her grandchild … now she is on American Idol, I met her Mum and Aunt earlier that day at the Country Radio DJs convention.

She is growing on me a lot here! Great tone and I love her song. She doesn't need to have a range to become successful or to make it far. Look at Bob Dylan. He has no range at all and he's widely popular with fans despite that. He proves that he probably could really far in a singing competition with or with no range if he were to compete in a singing competition. She has an emotional sound that resonates with people.

I liked her song: I like the lyrics, the repeat of "like that" and the vocalization changes that went higher. I hope people stop comparing her to her Grandma. She's not Loretta Lynn. Yes, she's talented, can play musical instruments and write songs like her Memaw, but she's herself. I feel she has everyone reason to be on this show, even despite who her grandmother was. That reality doesn't given her an automatic in to the industry. If it did, she would have been already given a contract and famous. She is doing this her way and I respect that. It's a definite yes from me. Do others have more unique voices? Yes. Is Emmy talented? Yes. Not closing the door or shutting her down at all.

The music itself is not as fluid or melodic as it could be. There was nothing memorable or 'hummable' about this melody. The lyrics are touching, but musically, this was flat. Her voice is gorgeous, and her lyrics are very good.

She has clearly to me a quiet, sensitive, introverted personality. These types of people take the world's happenings and digest them differently. It's a big thing and although glorious, wonderful and opportunistic to play and tour with her grandmother it could also be severely pressure filled, nerve wracking and even traumatic for young and impressionable little talented sensitive girl. The being compared to her grandmother was so unfair and hurtful. That's just the way it is. While an extravert might have walked away relatively unharmed & thriving

How do people find out who her grandmother is? I didn't know when I first saw her and heard her name. She needs to step away from telling people, but I feel that she wants that crutch to help her along at this point.
