Can we also say something about how beautifully Pinnock and the orchestra accompany Pahud? Great tempi, as many people take the famous B section too slowly. Here it had the right elegance, flow, and was still fluid and flexible. Gluck is about the reform style and simplicity but frequently musicians do Orfeo so slowly it's like watching paint dry. This flute solo is from the Elysee' (Elysium) section of the opera, so it's about nature, beauty, happiness, sun and heaven...it's not a funeral dirge. The B section was added after the original 1762 Vienna version to enlarge the Elysium scene, and is a part of a ballet.

I disagree. A deeper tone and expression (like Galway maybe?) is not appropriate for this kind of music. This is Gluck, not Nielsen flute concerto.

La obra musical es sublime. Lamentablemente la instrumentalización del audio es mala. El artista es más de los que malamente se escucha.
