Emma Willis finds a murder in her family history...

Ойын-сауық

Presenter Emma Willis grew up in Birmingham and loves the city and her fellow Brummies. She wants to find out how deep her roots are there.
Further afield, an interfaith marriage in Ireland leads Emma down two very different paths. Violent events force her to confront disturbing truths about one ancestor, while the hard graft and determination of another lead Emma to draw parallels with her own life.

It's funny, when Emma (and many other Brits) says Kirwin, it sounds just like Cowen.

I noticed that too & wonder if Cowen/Cowan originally was Kirwan.

So interesting. I have Protestant ancestors from Dunlavin as well but they didn’t own land. It was a pretty rough place in the day…and then the potato famine hit.

She sounds incredibly naive. The world has never been only filled with delightful, good people.

Well, it’s good that some folks have faith that some people are good. I wish I could be a bit more naive!

Even I, as a German, know the term ‘orange’ and its implications in relation to Irish history.
